While examples of supreme faith are expounded in the Scriptures, we need teachers like you to help us more fully understand the lessons of the Scriptures and liken them unto our lives. TY.

Great stories in this episode that touched my heart; the faithful Muslim man gave me much joy and determination to BE THAT faithful. Pres Hinckey’s pleading hit me and I determined I would be a better minister to new converts! Your son’s leader who continued to minister after the official calling also inspired me to be diligent in my service. Thank you for teaching with the Spirit

Thank you, Dr. Hilton. Great insights. I think there are many areas of gray in our lives - good, better and best. But in light of your teachings in this class, we should always be looking for the best, the things that bring us closer to Christ. Something may not be bad or evil, but if it doesn't draw me closer to Christ then Mormon says that it's not what I should choose. I find it is very easy to make lesser choices that are good things, but not the best. Thanks for encouraging me to choose in the Light of Christ.

I so look forward to my time spend with you in learning more about the Book of Mormon and how better to exemplify my life with these teachings! I thought when you asked the question about being a peaceable follower of Christ or mor of a wicked person, I chose a wicked person because I know of all of my faults and shortcomings and weaknesses. Even though I try to make good choices, life can still be a struggle. And when you put the option of the which is more accurate, the black and white or the black and white and gray, I felt very strongly that it is black and white. To me, anything that doesn't bring us to Christ is not good. And once I make the choice to leave things that do not help me to keep the Spirit, it becomes easier to see that even one good thing in 10 is not good, but one that some would consider grey. For me personally, there really isn't any grey areas. Thank you for another inspired class!

I often go over the sacrament prayer in my head emphasizing different words trying to find new context. It brings new perspective and insight. How would you understand this? "...and witness unto Thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are WILLING to take upon them the name of thy son..." or "...that they may witness unto Thee O God, the Eternal Father, that they DO always remember Him..." Try this with each word and see what has meaning to you.

“This Church cannot survive forever on people who have not decided yet on which team they want to play. We have to have people who will decisively take a stand and be counted in defense of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We have a tendency to hedge about this a little, but I don't believe the Lord smiles on that, because He kept telling either/or parables. And we say, “Oh, no, ‘either/or' is too simplistic. There are too many shades of gray.” But He kept telling those decisive stories. Think of them. We just talked about one, the wheat and the tares. He did not say anything about roses or petunias or onions in the middle. He said there is some wheat and there are some tares. How will He judge against that standard? I don't know, but I do know He is going to be the judge, and it will be a righteous judgment. I don't think we will be sur surprised with those decisions. I know in my own life the fruitful, righteous, constructive part that is wheat, and I know the destructive, dark, less wholesome part that gets qualified as a tare. He knows that I know that already, but He waits a little longer to see if I will repent of the latter in my maturity. "He talked about sheep and goats. Nothing about lions and tigers and leopards and elephants. Then He gathered fish in the gospel net, and there were some good fish and some bad fish, and we say, “What about the mediocre fish?” Nothing there about mediocre fish. Just some good ones and some bad ones. And we say, “How can that be? Everything in my experience says there are more shades of gray than that”-except, deep down in my soul, I really do know the things I should do and the things I should not do.” - Jeffrey R. Holland, (”Our Day Star Rising”, Chapter: Matthew 13)

Really, what is evil? When I think evil I think of devilish and diabolic which didn’t help when I would read those verses. I don’t think I am evil, yet I am not perfect. So I looked up the definition of evil which was straightforward “the opposite of good”. The best way that helps me come to terms with evil is the verse 12. Evil is that which goes “against him (Jesus) continually and inviteth and enticeth to sin. Yeah, I can relate more. Good thing for the light of Christ!! Phew!!

Brother Hilton, I love your videos so much. I'm new to this channel. They are a great help to my study. But could you please do something about the ads that show before the start? I am getting ads for things related to physical intimacy that aren't in line at all with this channel. I've only recently begun subscribing to faith-based channels. I sub to this one, Hello Saints and FolowHim and I get similar ads at Hello Saints. I've had the same ad for intimacy related stuff show 3 times in one video at Hello Saints!. The rest of the channels I follow are history, art restoration, aviation, shipping, news and dog videos. None of those have the kind of ads I'm referring to, so there must be some way to ensure the ads shown on a channel are aligned with its mission. The ads can't be related to my watching habits because 1. I don't watch anything I wouldn't want my bishop to see and 2. I keep watching history tuned off. Please, is there something that can be done?
@BookofMormonReader25 күн бұрын
I can think of at least two proactive things you can do immediately: 1) report the ad and / or say you want it hidden, and 2) spring for Premium You Tube without ads. It might be worth it just for that blessing of no ads.
@ingridseim137924 күн бұрын
@BookofMormonReader for some of us,paying for KZbin Premium is not responsible. I'm subscribed to dozens and dozens of channels and this one and Hello Saints are the only ones displaying these ads. Some channels have ads that align very closely to their mission and others send me ads for accident attorneys, Temu and Expedia, etc. But none like this...
@johnhiltoniii21 күн бұрын
Hmm...that's really weird, I have no idea why that would be happening. The only "ad" option KZbin gives me is if I want to show ads halfway through the video and I request no on that. I suggest you mark the ad as offensive...but I don't know what else to suggest. I apologize!
@johnhiltoniii20 күн бұрын
I found out that I can block certain categories of ads. I never realized that I could. There is an intimacy related category that creators can block, and I did that. So hopefully going forward that won't happen.
