It’s so mentally and emotionally exhausting having to constantly have that emotional so buffer in place to make others comfortable. It’s like a computer constantly running a program that uses up 70% of the RAM every time you turn it on. No wonder it keeps crashing when I’d want to do simple tasks. Hella draining.

PSA: I will not mute or sacrifice my justified rage in service to your convenience, comfort, and calm. You have created/benefitted from conditions designed to keep me in dysregulation and disturbance. And you demand for me to both tolerate it and service your comfort in it. Nah.

Alecia, you spoke so many truths in this video. We have so many burdens on our shoulders yet are seen as "angry," and speaking direct truths is seen as "aggressive" and "confrontational." We're not angry, we're bone tired. Thank you for sharing this.

"They" aren't going to get it because they don't want to get it. This is why it's important for Black Women to create community and safe spaces outside of these systems. We need to genuinely support one another.

wow, indeed it’s our humanity as you said. I implement these practices with my 4 year old scorpio daughter, she has space to let it all out and then often hugs me to regulate her nervous system, or a nap. the only time i obviously implement boundaries or restraining is when she becomes violent. this is sooo important though to FEEL IT first - do not suppress or dictate to small or big people that they need to suppress. I don’t tell her to cage her rage down simply cause it’s inconvenient for me. I also advocate for parents to normalize (verbalize) “mommy is feeling angry, mommy is feeling hurt/ mommy is stressed.” let’s express it instead of taking it out on others as well, especially children. no I’m not perfect but I’m doing the ground work I had to get real about this as soon as she turned 2 1/2. you are a treasure, alecia 💎🌻♒️🔆

I am so glad you talked about being blunt and direct. I am constantly shamed for my blood and my directly, but everybody knows I’m not being intentionally hurtful. Sometimes I say things in a direct way more often to the people I love because I want the best for them, I need to do better about my delivery, but I don’t think the message is wrong.

True. In many situations the bullying and eventual discrimination is done covertly. I also agree with allowing ourselves to feel what we feel til it goes away. Suppressing our emotions is dangerous.

Getting leaned on constantly would make anyone angry. Your feelings are your feelings for a reason. Anyone who doesn't get this is willfully ignorant.
