Honestly at this point I just play rein aggressive and see what rank I end up at. Yes, I am feeding, but I have fun. Usually I just end up at diamond. I used to be like close to master in OW1 and did hit GM in ow2 (season 3 tho, idk if that counts) but now I just wanna have fun man.

Resource trading is an important concept that many tanks would benefit from considering, but if the enemy team has one player that is massively better than everyone individually in the lobby then this playstyle will just result in that player eventually killing everyone. You see this in OWCS now among the lower/middle tier teams, where often who wins a match comes down to the slightly higher ranked team winning because they have an Ace dps.

So you’re telling me that I should just constantly slam cycle on doomfist and rarely go for a big empowered punch? Because I feel what you’re saying in my gameplay. The games I struggle in are when I know all I should be doing is slamming in and punching out, but I just subconsciously get so bored that I try to force a big punch. And just like you said, I either explode or get out with one hp and demand too many resources. It’s just so hard to not be aggressive because then your team just parrots “you’re not taking space” over and over again. How can you chill and also take space? Someone has to be aggressive for an advantage to be formed right? Do I slam cycle and keep track of what cd’s were used and base my push on that? How do I push when the enemy team will have their cd’s back by the time I recover my cd’s from slam cycling? For example, roadhog hook is on a 6 second cooldown. Even if I manage to bait out hook in every slam cycle, roadhog will have hook for the next engagement. How do I pressure the enemy team then because they’ll probably also have cass, ana, or sombra? And how do I do this while making sure my back line isn’t getting hit by characters like tracer, genji, sombra, etc.?

you literally just slam cycle, get ult which helps you use empowered punch more safely, if use ult then restart cycle, distract backline supports, if team doesn’t kill enemy tank with no support than your rank sucks

Im so annoyed that all of the nuance of dva and zarya have been removed when ow2 came out. Never found the same amount of fun playing tank. Staight up went to playing the other 2 roles since they are just more fun in every way

Yeah, the thing about 6v6 is that, in theory, getting support from your off-tank feels great when you’re playing main tank. One small issue: 90% of the games in Diamond/Masters I had Roadhog, Ball or Sigma as my off-tank. The only positive memory I have about off-tanks is playing the Dva or Zarya myself to enable the occasional main tank player.

If it comes down to certain tanks not being able to aggress because they demand more resources, wouldn't an answer be to give them more armour HP / rework armour to behave how it did before the most recent rework of it's behaviour? Since it was essentially better value to heal armour HP, in a vacuum.

The issue with this was/is, I think, finding a good balance between armor and health is difficult. For the most part tanks become unkillable if they play cover right or have enough support from their supports because of the way armor and kit exchanges work. And then on the other hand it would make other tanks or dps useless against more popular picks because of the way armor worked before. They changed it to the way it works now, if I understand it right, because it just made it easier to understand and balance around. But it always goes back to 5v5 just not being healthy for tank players imo because they never did enough to the ow1 kits to make up for the lack of resources most heroes(mainly tanks) from ow1 had.

Ram's problem is that he is straight up undertuned. Definitely not on the same level as some other tanks. He is the least picked tank in top500 since S9 changes. He is the least picked tank in top500 in overall OW2 history and it's not even close. Almost never an efficient or optimum pick. Trade offs in tank role is very skewed. There is no reason to pick Ram. Ram's block is very overrated. Your blocking needs to put pressure on to enemy team but you dont get that in solo que ranked unless you have ult in overtime. Even his ult is a joke now anyways.
