I was looking forward to this to see your reaction on Angie's screams. It's really a pity they decided to get rid of them on the album. I'm curious how will they perform it live now. All of the recordings I've heard are from before the album release and all of them did have the screams.

Definitely catchy in the chorus, interesting rhythms too. The screams are toned down or absent from the studio version which was recorded almost a year after this performance. I like and agree with your assessment of GS style - almost all the time the melody comes first, but with very interesting arrangement and technical playing underpinning it and making it fun/different/interesting, but not in your face and showing off. Album is a winner so far right? 🤩 For info the next track “Voice” was written by Oreo with lyrics from Angie about her father who passed away whilst she was at high school.

'W' is fantastic so far! Really enjoying it 😊 Oh the next song sounds like a sad one 🙁

I really like how they incorporate screams in songs where conventional wisdom would say it isn't "appropriate". It just shows how creative and playful they are.

This is one is one of my favorites from the album, although I wish it sounded more like the live version, the harsh vocals makes it even better. Good thing about GS having multiple singers is that even if you're not the biggest fan of one particular singer, you still have 3 more options to choose from 😄and there will be a song where that vocalist is the main focus. For me, Hana is my favorite because the type of voice she has, you don't really come across that often. It's not too high or too low, and it has a little bit of an edge to it, but at the same time it can get warm and soft. Also imo she has by far the best vibrato 😁

Yep, Hana is certainly not one of the technically best singers, but I'm sure she knows that. Her voice, as you say, has a certain rawness, something honest about it, which I think fits pretty well with their songs, and she uses it as a stylistic element. Together with the others, it just works. _____________________ 「 _Look inside the mirror of you. Can you say now is the best of who you are?_ 」- from *Nemophila* - 'RISE' 🎶💮

When you see ou in Japanese it's a long o sound, sometimes also written as ō in some romanizations because the Japanese also use ー for extending sounds in katakana but after the character, the u extends the o sound and is not pronounced. I also really like this track, it's so upbeatand happy sounding for a track that is about hating something or someone. Kirai means hate or dislike. And yes, it also easily gets stuck in my head.

While they are not a band who have really hooked me, you have to admire their creatively, and I think they'd be really interesting to see live, even if they'd play to a sea of puzzled expressions if they were a support band. From that idea, a lumpy segue brings me to a band I have seen as a support act (for Rumkicks) in England, 18Fevers. Like Rumkicks, they are part of the Seoul punk scene, but their music is harder to pin down to a specific rock genre. This MV is for their song "Nothing Helps" and as an added bonus/deterrent (delete as appropriate) you ETTE co-host Neon actually appears clearly in the MV, albeit only for a couple of seconds - indeed, some of the footage was actually filmed by him. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4G9XmZ8mZqWhdk

Hana's singing is weird to me. A bit more so with some of the more recent stuff than the older stuff, just because of the change in the music in general. Some people might want to crucify me for my blasphemy but if I was going to try to explain her singing, I would put it something like.. She knows how to sing, but doesn't quite have the voice for it, but because of how the whole band operates, especially with having 3 people trading off vocals at this point, it just works. Don't ask me how it works, it just does. But I don't think it would work if she was the sole vocalist.

I mean I feel similar, but I think it's just about taste (like with all music 😉)
