This was SUCH a good episode with really great tips! I can totally relate to all the makeup tips as I have done my own makeup for photoshoots and I know not to wear sunglass's and am careful about keeping my makeup in tact. One tip that I have for drinking water is to pour it in the air into my mouth haha. I find for myself that it's the best way to preserve my lipstick but it's a little tricky to pull off.

Thanks for that tip! And thanks for watching.

Great advice and what a valuable segment . I'm just smh at some of the stories ... some actors apparently rolling out of bed and showing up on set for someone to wave a magic wand . One time while I was in "make-up", the artist actually thanked me for arriving hair and make-up ready and then shared how she has had to work her magic on actors who showed up with hickeys or hungover. I was amazed they booked a gig in the first place 🤦🏻♀️.

Yeah, it seems like a lot of "no-brainer" stuff, but actors are a strange bunch... 😉

So timely to stumble across this video today. Was just booked onto 2 episodes of a Paramount+ series and my first on-location shoot is next Tuesday. First time on a major production set and really appreciate these great insights! Thank you for your excellent acting videos; no doubt they contributed to me getting signed for this production…

This is fantastic to hear, I'm working on a film right now and I can confirm everything she is saying is true.

Thanks, Peter! Glad this was affirming for you. It all "makes sense", but hearing it from her POV gave it all a new importance that I hadn't thought of before...

Listen.....I've been a professional actor since 2011. I've had more than a little experience on set, and with Makeup Artists. I am actually close personal friends with Beth Pilgreen. She's done my makeup professionally, and I have asked her MANY makeup related questions over the years. Even still....watching this......I. Learned. A. Ton. If you're an actor, just watch it. Knowing these things is part of your "craft" as well. Be good at your craft. Also....this interview is incredibly engaging and Beth is hilarious. Win win.

Thanks Steven! I agree 100%. Giving voice to her side of the on set experience was eye opening even after having 20 years in this biz.

This was fantastic! Thank you both! I would love to ask more specific questions about advocating for yourself when it comes to allergies. It's a pretty in depth subject, not easily discussed in a comment section, but wanted to throw it out there. :) Thank you @gettaped!

Great suggestion! I have noticed productions getting more proactive about that over the years. For makeup, on my last gig, I was asked twice about any allergies (once in an email several days before set, and again in the chair). But like you said, it's more nuanced than that. Perhaps a follow-up video is in order if I stumble across more loose ends!

@@GetTaped Would LOVE that! The biggest thing I've noticed is being asked up to 5 times about my allergies before getting to set, but then they completely ignore what I've written and the info they've asked for. This has created some embarrassing moments on set. In 10+ years only ONE production has taken it seriously or even read it. I could keep going, but it's a big discussion.

Understood. I just had the idea to do a LIVE event with all my guests so that we could have a further discussion, and allow live questions... hmmmmmm... wouldn't happen for awhile, since I'd want to release all the videos first, but might be a cool way to continue the discussion...

Tattoos? Did we cover that? difficulty in covering them up?
@GetTaped2 ай бұрын
It’s mentioned briefly in the video with the 1st AD. More so about just giving a heads up as soon as possible. The makeup artists are used to covering ink, but they don’t like getting surprised when you’re already in the chair. They budget your time in the chair with the information they had before your call time was established, so surprises put them behind schedule.

Thanks for watching. I didn't see the fly, so I guess you have a good eye!
