The big accuracy is a little bit misleading, because since the point he lost the knight it doesn't really matter what he would play (everything is losing anyway) so his accuracy seemed higher and the same thing goes to you.

“Trapping the knight wasn’t a blunder?” Sometimes when this happens, it’s gradual. A knight starts to be misplaced and one by one squares start to disappear. Pretty soon, the knight is as bad as trapped. So it’s not a blunder but just series of mistakes

Stepjan’s was on the other side of the board and in particular winning the knight. Add in his opponent’s quick play, it’s explainable.

Tactical oversights happen to even the best players. They don't mean anything by themselves. What matters is a pattern, a combination of the nature and frequency of them.

It may be fair to say up until 2100-2200 Lichess rapid, games are (or at least could be if one of the sides were tactically stronger) decided by tactical mistakes.
@diggitus2 ай бұрын
I think that's true well beyond that range
@AnlamK2 ай бұрын
@@diggitus Well recently hpy played against a 2500 rated player and that game wasn't decided by tactics. But you are right about the prevalence of tactical mistakes in all rating ranges.

It's not that weird. Until say 1990 Black played the Stonewall with the bishop on e7. By then the verdict already had been "favours White" for a few decades.

I really dislike the stonewall or stonewall like positions. I always struggle with coming up with a good plan and usually mess up with a bad breakthrough. Against the regular move order of the dutch i usually play the 2. g4 gambit to just avoid these kinds of positions.

Average accuracy doesn't mean very much. If you play 20 moves and win a piece and then play 90 more moves in a winning endgame with an extra piece, the average accuracy will be really high. That's not because you played really well; it's more so that once you are up a piece, it's hard to make "inaccurate" moves, as Lichess defines it.
@Scmonk2 ай бұрын
This even more so applies to really drawish positions. I once had a otb game in the exchange caro-kann, where my opponent forced alot of trades, leading to positions, where there were nearly alway at least 4 or 5 moves, that just keep the position equal or really close to equal, despite the queens and rooks still being on the board. Up to move 33(where lucky for me, my opponent blundered) both sides centipawnloss was below 10, because finding accurate moves was just super easy. I ended up with an accuracy of 97% while my opponent had 92%.
