Both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom have been some of the few games that plunged me into a depression after completing since I would never be able to play it for the first time ever again. Great video

TotK's ending was so amazing, really felt like the end of the Wild era which is so sad but stuck with me in the best way.

Just finished the game today(well around 70% of it but I’m not finding every korok). I bought it around its release date and wanted to save the Ganon fight for the very end because BotW is one of my favorite games and I wanted to make this ending as cinematic as possible. I had a great time progressing the story but got kind of burnt out trying to complete all of the side quests/unlock all of the collectibles/ upgrade the armor and horses and being used to the formula from BotW. so I quit after playing constantly for a month or two. Recently I got the urge to finish the rest of this game and I’ve got to say this was a truly resonating experience. Rarely does a video game evoke emotions like this one has for me. While I’m writing this I can think of only a couple of games over the past decade that have impacted my life to the extent this duology has (Rdr2 and Overwatch 1 for example). I remember in high school using my younger brother’s switch to play Breath of the Wild after hearing positive feedback. I didn’t have many expectations considering it would be my first Zelda game but I was hooked from the start. From the music to the themes, atmosphere and mechanics, everything seemed perfect. And to finish the sequel that broadens and arguably improves almost everything from the previous installment years later at a college age feels storybook. Although the post-game depression will hurt fs, it was a pleasure and a privilege to experience this masterpiece. I hope y'all have a great one!

also I want to thank god I didn’t get the ending spoiled for me. I didn’t know ganondorf would turn into a dragon. That theme combining the title music from BotW was chefs kiss. My favorite gaming moment of 2023 was fighting colgera for the first time and listening to that music, but this final boss fight has been my favorite gaming experience so far in 2024. Shame we won’t be getting dlc or a sequel to TotK. I’ll definitely be thinking about this game for a while🥲

I started BoTW in March 2023 and changed my life, I just wanted to try it out and ended up 100%ing it in less than 20 days (including Koroks and DLC). But I were hungry for more and immediately pre-ordered the sequel which was only 1.5 month away at the time. Needless to say I fell in love again and also 100%ed the game. I'm so sad there's literally nothing to do other than refighting bosses, building or having fun with glitches.

Just noticed from this video that the music that's playing when you're approaching Ganondorf is played in reverse in one of the trailers. Cool touch.

The reward for finding that cool cliff is that you found it and liked it. BotW and TotK gave me feelings I hadn’t felt since I played OOT and MM as a child. Make up your own reasons to find things. There’s no reward for watching a cool sunset in real life, and there’s no reward for finding a cool cliff in TotK. And that’s okay. Sometimes finding something cool that you like is rewarding enough.

Absolutely agree. The scenery and world are breathtaking, you're right that sometimes just the discovery and views can be worth it by themselves.

Just give it a break for a while before coming back. I quickly lost interest after beating the game too... But then I started playing again recently, and I've been enjoying it a lot more now. I got all the shrines (which I normally hate doing), and I've been going around grinding out all the armor upgrades over time. I have no interest in getting all the Koroks (cause that does _not_ sound even remotely fun), but just listening to video essays on KZbin (like this video for example lol) in the background and just playing the game, I've been having a lot more fun doing what I previously considered mundane. Also, don't be afraid to look stuff up either. It gives you a checklist of things to go collect, like all the armor pieces, taking down all the bosses for those medals, and items needed for armor upgrades. And since the world is the same, its even more incentive to use flying machines or vehicles to traverse it faster. When you start getting tired again... Just play something else and come back later. It really does wonders for enjoyment. :3

Completely agree. Like I said in the video, making the script and recording gameplay made me ready to dump more time back in to the game.

The map needs way more “red dead redemption style” game play. Gameplay where your engaged in an “on the rails”quest that involves dialog from other characters and develops the main story. Like the sections that lead up to the dungeons.

If I'm being honest, it hurt beating totk more because it felt so short. Yes I have 100+ hours on it, but most of it was exploring, the hours I spent just wrapping up the story felt so quick it felt so.. empty at the end, it hurts knowing theres nothing more. I only return to this game just to build a few things and roam around the map, but after an hour so I just so bored by it even if I was so enamored by the game at first

@billsny9243 I keep coming back for it just for that, the world is beautiful even if restricted by a 720p resolution screen(and undervolted GPU) but the empty feeling knowing theres not much more for me to collect is saddening, I hope nintendo is cooking up another DLC for it

I personally disagree and still think that BOTW is the best game (for me at least). I feel that the story is cool, but hard to follow. And that I like the runes, but I do miss bombs and cryonis. Not to mention the sheikah that just mysteriously disappeared with no explanation. I also don't like the champion abilities. Tulin is pretty much the only useful one, and the way to activate them is dumb. There are many more things I could say, but TLDR, nothing can beat BOTW for me. Curious to see who agrees or reasons against this.

i tried to take my time with it, did basically everything there is to do, all the shrines, liughtroots, armor, like 99% of the side quests, the only thing i didnt do was get all the korok seeds but no way am i putting myself through that. I had done everything, and went to fight ganon. I think i've opened the game once since beating him, realized there was nothing to do, closed it, and havent played it since.

The depths are good to farm boss parts. If you use you travel markers nearby a boss and groups of weapon statues the depths are less repetitive. Unfirtunately i use a travel medallion in tarrey town and that town you save. And i always save 1 for exploring. Id rather just get bored of the depths lol

I thought exploring the depths was repetitive not necessarily beating bosses, but yeah that's a great strategy for farming high level materials.

Literally can’t even force myself to replay it, and I’ve replayed BOTW a few times since. It’s just so stretched out, overstuffed, and so many mechanics are terrible, like fuse and champion abilities. 🤮
@EnkiPNW

I agree that 4/5 of the champion abilities aren't great but I thought Fuse was so cool and fit the story so well. Going back to it with fresh eyes made me excited to play it more/restart tbh

@@EnkiPNW It’s not just that the abilities aren’t great, it’s the control schemes. Having to chase down the spirits every time you want to use the ability is mind-numbingly stupid design. Go back to BOTW and use all 4 of the abilities easily, quickly, and seamlessly, and you will realize just how badly they messed this game up. Some of the controls honestly feel like a crappy early-access indie game that will later figure out the RIGHT way to implement things. Coming from Nintendo, it’s just downright embarrassing.
