So so sorry Chad. Loved Robin because of his strong personality and the fact he was so identifiable in the vlogs. Raising animals is tough and a great leveller. So we pick ourselves up, a little sadder, a little more experienced, a little more grateful for all we have, a little more conscious of all the animals contribute to our daily lives. And we take the next step……

As a human being, I must say, let the edge down. Everyone that has owned animals knows what it's like to bury a few. It's a horrible feeling and no one likes it. It is a fact of life no matter how good you do things. You let others know what to be cautious of during wet conditions. That should be their focus. Sorry for your farms loss, thanks for the info, peace be with you and yours

I always thought goats were pretty indestructible, but since my daughter and granddaughter started raising them 7-8 years ago, we found out pretty quick that they're so susceptible to so many things. Everything from coccidia and other parasitical ailments to intolerance to too much protein, wet conditions, and more. They've lost goats with home treatment, lost goats before we knew anything was wrong, as well as within hours of taking them to the vet. The symptoms of multiple goat ailments are the same, so narrowing it down is tough. You can only do what feels right given the circumstances at the time.

When you mentioned early on in the video…you said something seemed “off” on the farm….something was “off”…the animals knew something was happening to Robin. Not that you could have prevented the passing. Animals have that premonition…I have 2 Shih Tzu’s, I kept my brothers special needs dog often (he was on meds for seizures) and I worried about how rough my two always played in the yard, but they ALWAYS surprised me. They still did their runs back and forth, but they were always always careful around Rusty. When he would get too far away from the house and couldn’t find his way back they worked together and gently guided him toward the porch. I was always close by, and I was so proud of my fur babies! Your other animals knew something was happening….that’s why you “felt” that something had happened the night before. You are doing an incredible job with your animals and those two beautiful children. God Bless you, your sons, your awesome parents, your siblings and Adler Farms 1.0. Thank you for sharing with us!

So sorry for your loss. When I was growing up we had sheep. One day we had one lamb die then a few days later another one died. We never figured out what the cause was. It’s was strange. Chad you’re doing a good job. Sometimes these things just happen. It’s a farm. It’s farm life. A few things that I would suggest keeping on hand is Banamine it’s an anti inflammatory, a broad spectrum antibiotic, dewormer and electrolytes. As soon as I saw how Robin was acting I thought, "Oh no. That's not good." So sorry for the loss of him. You did what you could and called the right people. I would think that if Robin had diarrhea it would have been evident on his "backside". I didn't see any signs of it. Anything could have caused it. If the storm was bad enough, it may have just been the stress from the storm. Seems like that storm and Robin not feeling well affected the whole farm. Take comfort in knowing you gave him a great life.

I follow this couple that homesteads and they make their own dewormer and give to their goats so they do'nt get parasites from eating the grass,weeds,etc.They hand feed it like a treat to make sure they get it.They said it was because of eating all that green stuff parasites are in it, the grass,weeds etc. (I think she said also because it rained so much,and it's alwaysi wet,there so the grass is always growing fast.They're there growing their own coffee beans,& processing them there. drying ,& grinding & shipping, it's their business They're from the USA-(Boston) and live in Panama,she said no body likes to raise goats there because of they get parasites.They build everything out of metal and weld it together,because it rains all the time & rots ALL the wood. Their home they live in, dogs home, and the goats ,home ,now a workshop and helping someone build an A-Frame home on their homestead, it's all steel frames!!!They named their homestead the dogs name, ''Lola's Farm'' (a black labrador) They're coming back for 5 months to Boston to have their 1st baby, due in Oct.2021.I follow them like I follow you and your cute little boys....Bless You, Adler & Case!!!!

I tend to lean toward him probably overeating on something causing him to bloat. If you don't already do this consider leaving baking soda where the goats can get to it free choice. One thing I know for sure about goats, when they get sick it can take them out fast and without warning sometimes. I'm sorry for your loss, we never like losing one.
@pegasusa16073 жыл бұрын
Sometimes you can't feed male goats grain, hay is the best for them because they can get crystals or stones in their urine which causes them unable to urinate. They will get blocked and if you don't get them unblocked they will die. Just saying that could be one of the problems. So sorry for your loss I know the baking soda will work if their pee wee isn't blocked.
