Interestingly, I've also had a gun from my personal collection featured on Forgotten Weapons, though only *_after_* I had already sold it, in my particular case. My former Westinghouse Mosin Nagant, which wound up in Auction #1028. Though I didn't put it up for auction, I sold it to the man who did. I originally bought it from my uncle who thought he had suckered me into paying $250 for a basic Mosin, back when the cheap ones went for around $90.

I'm really glad you won that rifle one because you appreciate the history that goes along with it. These " buy this product and get a chance to win" I am very skeptical about because you never know if anyone actually wins the item. Thanks for posting this because now we know that it is indeed real. I have been a fan of Forgotten Weapons since the beginning because I love researching historical firearms and learning in depth history on them. Ian is the best at what he does.

I hear you man. I had some of the same reservations, but I would be very surprised if Ian was involved in any kind of scam. In our limited interactions and in all the content of his I’ve consumed over the years, he seems like a very kind and decent man. He comes to the table with a lot of credibility IMO. I was reasonably certain that the contests were legit before I bought my little coffee mug. But it’s all about connecting to a past that mattered for me, and I’m so grateful that I get to be a custodian of these artifacts so that they may be appreciated by future generations. 💚🙏

@@AntonAdelson Yeah, so, in the States anything *over* .50 caliber is regulated under the NFA. The PTRD-41 is a ~.57 caliber, so it's regulated as a "Destructive Device" the same as mortars and rocket launchers.

Umm. It's not just Forgotten Weapons that these 'give aways' are offered through. There is/was an identical 'offer' through Nine Hole Reviews, at least(!), also. And the 'Nine Hole' doesn't appear to be the same piece offered by FW as the 'original' PU was defective & replaced with a new (Russian?!) copy. Just saying - as Mark Novak of Anvil states.
