Don't start taking things off the car. Leave as is. I'm a 80 year old great grandma and I would love to have it. Looks like a lot of fun to play with. I can see why you're Uncle liked the PT Cruiser. If you decide to sell it put up the site so I can check it out for myself.

A853 2.4 turbo engine is cast block and aluminum head. I work on srt-4 neons for a living and do pt cruisers too. The timing belt on this car is actually pretty easy to do. Engine is also non interference so if the belt snaps, won’t hurt a thing. Good buy for the price, randy!

I still have a soft spot for the PT Cruisers, they were decent cars for what they were. They weren't designed to be luxury cars, or even "nice" cars, they were inexpensive economy cars, and they were priced that way. The hardtops were versatile and useful. The looks were love or hate, myself, at the time they were originally introduced I thought they looked nice.

I love the PTs. Like you said, they were affordable and very functional, not to mention they looked cool. I’ve always loved PTs even to this day. I know a lot of people don’t but I don’t understand the hate. They had a great and very functional design and I love that about them. I’d love to own any PT, especially a turbo 5-speed car.

I have a good friend from high school. He’s a mechanic, his wife had a non-turbo PT and he HATED IT! He mentioned it was a nightmare to work on. I remember going to a Dodge, Chrysler and I believe Plymouth dealer when the convertibles first came out and checking them out. It was the most solid convertible I ever sat it. When I shut the door on a PT convertible when new, it was like sitting in a snare drum. It was the most insulated convertible I’ve ever sat in, at least when it was new. I always wanted a convertible, Turbo, 5-speed PT. I think this one is a good one. I do wish it didn’t have Pep Boys Buick port holes and the hood ornament but, if those things are appropriate on any car, it would be a PT. I’m glad to see you giving this one some love and wish your uncle was still here to enjoy it. Btw, in my opinion, the eggplant color is the most iconic color on these, followed by Cool Vanilla.

The state I live in (Georgia) will not let me buy from any auction site unless it's a salvage vehicle. I can buy any vehicle anywhere as long as it's a private sale but without a dealers license auction vehicles must be salvage. I guess car dealers greased the right palms to get this rule in place.

Good find! Last year I bought a gold 2003 GT turbo PT cruiser 4 door for $600 from IAAI with 150k and clean title, and it turned out pretty good. ive put 5000 miles on it. It looks like it has a slow leak from the water pump ( even though the carfax shows a new timing belt service 50k ago which should have meant a new pump) so that's likely why the previous owner dumped it. But i've just topped up the coolant a few times and it's behaved itself, so I think ill get it fixed and roll it a while. Its a fun car! 230 horsepower is plenty on something like this to have some fun and its got lots of storage.

Clean the car, make it smell good or pay to have it detailed. Take the dash pad and place it in a bag in the trunk and leave the rest untouched. Service the basics, (figure out why that PVC hose keeps popping off) and put a for sale sign on it in front of your place for a decent price. I would move all the other cars down by your shop or in the back (or put up a privacy fence) and just put one car out front for sale as you don't want to distract the buyer. Just this one is for sale here now, the others are being worked on.

My wife and I bought a brand new 2002 PT Cruiser. It was just offloaded from the transport, having the protective plastic on it. Our first brand new car. The head gasket was replaced, under warranty at 24,000 miles. The lower control arm bushings were notorious for failing. I replaced those in my driveway. We drove that car and traded it in with 86,000 miles on it. My wife said the PT stood for "pretty tank". That car went through snow like a tank. When we bought it, my wife wanted a convertable. The salesman stated they would make those. The next model year introduced the convertable. If we had bought the convertable, we would probably still have it. Enjoy the car. 🎉

I had a pt actually mine was a 2007 hardtop I had it for 7 years until the fuel system died on it. I hit a deer with mine but never totaled it out it was tank. It was a good car bright orange. My dad had a 2001 one and his just died a few years ago from old age. His was blue, mine had almost 175,000 when I traded it in and my dads had almost 200,000 on it so you do the maintenance on them they will last you awhile. The best part of these cars is the seats fold down flat or come out and you can move a lot of stuff.

Great deal. I would love to have one for a cheap fun convertible, although I'm not sure who tried to trick it out. My mother in law had a PT Cruiser and it was given to my oldest child as their first car. It ran for years and was pretty handy. We'd still have it except it was used as a trade in/down payment on the child's first new car. The Oldsmobile was a great design for the time and really got younger people interested in the car brand again. Hard to believe it would be gone in just a few years after that. So you are keeping the PT?

Our sister dealer raced a new Turbo PT Cruiser GT down the track to a 14.80 in the 1/4 pretty good for that car! I ama car nerd and have a black book not of women, but all the cars I raced, my buddies and everyone I know lol (have slips when they didn't want them but sadly most slips are faded out). Your Touring does 7.2sec 0-60 and 15's in the 1/4 There is lack of information online and people assume all 2.4 Turbo's are the same..Like the 5.7 Hemi power rating in Dodge,Jeep,RAM all different! Ditto same year RAM Cummins they have different power ratings even the same year! Love the channel, I am just a car guy that worked at Chrysler in sales and tech then Toyota for nearly 30 years before going 100% on my own, always had side car gigs.. Merry Christmas!

without the PT cruiser the NSRT4 as we know it wouldn't be a thing. the first prototype of the srt used a supercharged 2.0, then they came out with the turbo charged PT cruiser, snagged the engine out of it, and threw it in the neon with a modified intake manifold as the pt cruiser's sat too high.
