I used to work at Walgreens part time and one of my former coworkers was written up for taking a video in the store. She never said where she was and there was nothing showing the store name or anything that would tell you where she was. Ridiculous

As a retired pharmacist, I can tell you the general public has no idea how much we had to deal with - state, federal laws, corporate expectations and metrics, personnel problems, drive thrus and customers, good and bad, etc. and do everything without making a mistake that could be damaging to a patient. I worked for CVS and left in 2014... we absolutely had a quota for yearly flu shots and each year, you had to do better than the last. We had to answer the phone within a certain amount of time. We had to answer drive thru in a certain amount of time. It was ridiculous. They increased the workload... always coming up with new ideas to get customers to come over to CVS and stay BUT it usually just pissed ppl off. And we only got a 2% raise each year. It will take you about 5 years to make a dollar.

I worked for Walgreens pre covid and it was starting to get to be like this. I have been in the Wags family my entire life (my mom worked there too back in the days when Wags was a great place to work and they cared about their employees.). These places only care about the money and the bottom line, not the actual customers or the employees. I stopped working for them when they changed that mentality. Bless you for doing this video. I enjoyed you telling the exact truth of the life working there. And you weren't malicious, just factual. The people we work with do make it better but it's hard to survive on this job alone. Angry customers make for bad retail but they don't really understand how bad it is to work for these companies because we, as much as the customers, aren't treated well. We are all just numbers.

I took care of grandma and mom until they passed. It was really stressful since I had no help or relief however Im glad I did it but it was hard on me. I'm 51 and now that my family have passed it sure gets lonely sometimes. I do still have a half brother in another state and my adult son who is in college. I cannot seem to connect with people anymore perhaps thats for a reason I dont know. I have been praying for companionship. I do keep hope and try to meet people in public like walking in the park but many ignore me or act like they dont hear me. I never had this issue when younger so either society has changed or I have and dont realize it. Im worried it maybe taking a toll on my longevity always being alone. 🙏 I appreciate you sharing with us as it does help many! I have even considered van life just to get out and meet new people. All this tech yet stats say we have more people lonely than ever!

I'm taking care of my 82-year-old mom also. I am very grateful to have the ability to do that as where I live in Olympia Washington it is extremely expensive a single bedroom apartment is 1800 to 2 Grand a month. And I'm using the time to go back to my community college Google course online. If you can a great way to make connection impossible companionship is that volunteer places in your city say a food bank or a soup kitchen a church. I have met some really amazing women just at the food bank. Probably like you when you're younger I was very fortunate to have a lot of female companionship for many years of my life. I went through a period where I needed eight surgeries and had health complications and that completely changed my whole life and trajectory in my life. Now that I have got all those things dealt with and doing much better physically and mentally I feel that I'm starting my over again but at 44 years old. And yes you are very right more people are lonely and depressed than any other time in history and very few have real meaningful companionship. look at only fans it's so sad all these young girls selling themselves online and all these creepy guys buying the stuff too. It's sad and sick on both sides. One thing I need to do is get back into growing my own herb as I haven't grown anything since last summer and even though I only do edibles I like to grow just for the challenge of it. I still have more than I could consume probably years but it's the challenge of it that gets me now I just give it away my neighbors and Friends. I've been growing and breeding my own since 15 years old. Let alone my doctor recommended myself to take mushrooms and that really helps especially with the introspective part of it realizing how much I've worked on myself. If you ever need any help I need somebody to talk to let me know. But remember most of all stay strong and keep building up your inner self. God bless you

Tracy because of your information over the last little while and the state of our pharmacies, I have become a champion to make sure that when I need to get prescriptions for my mother, which is weekly, that I go back and I am as pleasant and the sweetest I can be. I always tell them something silly maybe a dad joke and they all know my name and my mother’s name now and when I walk in, they know where her medication is and they just go get it. I always tell them how is my favorite pharmacy team doing today, or something similar and when they see me and I know they’re having a bad day they always start to smile when I walk around the corner. Thank you for giving my little RiteAid a little bit of brightness because of your information.

I work in an assisted living facility. The base rate is $7,000/month. Social security and medicare pay for most of it, but if they have money then the government has them pay some of it. A person could have 24/7 in-home care for that kind of money. Our executive director is leaving to contract in-home care partners. I do care partner and med tech. We have girls working double shifts. I did it twice in a year, it wiped me out! My husband is retiring so he is picking up on housework. The kids are in college so more self-sufficient. Caring for your mom has been a big burden but the facility will sure carry some weight now. For a lotta dough.

Maybe, but a pharmacy doesn't need much square footage, so it would be relegated to a strip mall, like a dry cleaner or sandwich shop. Parking becomes a problem. Also, no drive through, which I don't have a problem with. On a related note, perhaps we need to have a health care system that isn't captured by the pharmaceutical industry and other profit motives.

I get my prescriptions from CVS. They tend to fill my prescriptions early when I didn’t request a refill and then notify me that I have prescriptions ready. Then I have to make a trip down there before it’s necessary. This can be annoying and I don’t care for it. I like to order when I’m ready. When it happens it’s sometimes days before I pick them up because I don’t have time to go bye. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same with other people which would explain your back log of prescriptions.

The nearest Walgreens to me has pharmacy workers that act as if they are having a party and I'm interrupting. Laughing uncontrollably and joking around with each other that really feels disrespectful and super annoying. I'm not too sure they are "too busy" whatsoever. They are lacking accountability by a supervisor. The lack of managerial skills in all facets of society is jaw dropping. I used to go there once a month and every single time, there was a new batch of workers in the pharmacy. And that's why I only go with Amazon pharmacy that delivers to my home, is accessible online or by phone, haven't had a problem or frustrating situation in the 3 years I've used them.

No surprise there's a shortage of pharmacists, requiring them to get what's been now proven to be bioweapon injections is beyond cruel 😞

This is the problem with many chain stores. They put profit over customer service not realizing that good customer service is essential to longevity. Their high prices are helping them much neither. If you're going to charge high prices you have to have the customer service to go along with it. All of the Walgreens closures speak for themselves.

As a side note with pharmacies being short staffed check every pill in your container. Look what the size, color, number is on the container the.check it out online if it comes back as the medication that is prescribed to you andi is written on the container. Then check each and every pill for the right markings. Short staffed, stress and medication is not a good mix and increases errors drastically.

I had to sign up for medicare for the prescription part with my supplement. They kept pushing me to go to Walgreens, a 20 minute drive in the next town over. I told them I preferred my small town pharmacy, which is close by and there is not the crazy wait. I was reminded that it might cost more. I explained the distance, wait, etc. It fell on def ears. Fortunately, I only get the occasional antibiotic. I will stick with my small town pharmacy.

Hi Trace, Public Service Announcement. If your employer goes through CVS Caremark you do not have to only use CVS Pharmacy. I have Caremark through work and can go to any pharmacy. Maybe that's not the case everywhere OR maybe people never ask and just assume they can only use CVS because of the branding.Caremark is only the administrator of the employee's program. I am one of the few who go to Walgreens for everything. Walmarts, Targets are now gigantic and take twice as long to get in and out. Bye!

I worked for CVS, now Walgreens. Sometimes it depends on the medication or product and also the health plan & usually there are other pharmacies that Caremark is contracted with but it usually won't be a competitor like Walgreens, it will usually be a smaller pharmacy that CVS has purchased...I used to could use Caremark at Walmart but then Walmart told me they weren't contracted with them anymore

CVS AND WALGREENS are owned by the big 3 -- Black Rock, Vanguard, State Street and they buy out the cheaper mom and pop chains and single locations (as said here) and suddenly your town doesn't have cheap scripts or OTC meds. This practice should be illegal.

Thank you for posting this video. No one understands what we go through as pharmacy techs. I have been a tech for over a year. I work at small pharmacy in a grocery chain. It’s part-time and it supplements my full-time. I love doing what I do. I absolutely love my co-workers we get along great. It’s a lot to get certified. So I decided to not do it at the present moment.

Amazing how times has changed. When I was a teenager I worked at a grocery store called Winn- Dixie. I football tackled a fat lady in the parking lot for stealing a ham. Once they went out the door without paying they were fair game.

Hey! I've been working at Winn-Dixie for over two years now. In today's world, there is no allowance for football tackling a customer who is stealing items. When I first started working for the store I chased down three ladies with three carts of groceries who made a dash for the parking lot via the entrance doors. I was able to snatch one of the carts away from one of the women, but they drove off nonetheless. I was informed that what I had done was a "fire-able offence," and to never do it again. I was told that retrieving a cart load of groceries was not worth being shot or knifed. Our store averages right at $1000 stolen each day!!!!!!!!

Walgreens pharmacy is the absolute worse. Put in for a refill and 90% of the time I do not hear anything from them other than “processing” for over a week to 10 days! Almost always requires a phone call and a long wait on hold up to 45 minutes or more. ! Hate Walgreens pharmacy and never use them unless my mail order pharmacy can’t do it.

I worked in a Walmart pharmacy once. The head pharmacist had been written up twice. If he was written up a 3rd time, he would be fired. He was mean to his crew, to the customers, and was a big jerk. I was miserable. I ended up working as a front cashier. I liked it much better. But you're correct. It's tough to make it on a low salary. Working on your feet on a cement floor is a killer. My feet would ache for days. I hope things get better for you. Thanks for the reminder to be kind. ❤️🙏🇺🇲

It's good to get this out there. It's happening everywhere. More and more older people working,,and those are the ones who are ailing. Putting more on them because they have been taught to show up! Technology getting more complicated, and things moving way too fast. Stress is high. Nobody slows down. No one checks on anyone. Now, I don't really mean no one does ,but most. We need to reset constantly . Pray always. Just some thing one my mind.

I live in central Gulf coast FL. There are too many walgreens, some better than others. I have noticed a big change at the store in the past 5 years. They all seem to be disorganized, and too much turnover of employees. I also do not understand why they need to sell any type of clothing items. It just takes up unnecessary space. Items that are necessary often are not stocked well. Seems to me there is a distribution issue that I did not see a decade ago. I shop there only because its a mile from my house, but no longer enjoy the experience.

The pharmacy manager ended it up working for a competitor. When I saw him he lost weight, was graying gave me the impression of being a human robot. This pharmacist was brilliant!!! Gorgeous!!! Customers loved and asked for him... he taught me a lot about medications, work ethics, public relations communication... And we all worked to make things easier. Certain techs would only work with him...even if they were coming from another job...
