Gold is at all time highs. It is probably more speculative to believe it will go much higher. I read awhile back that if we look at gold adjusted for inflation it was actually worth around 2700 an ounce in 1980 in today's dollars. Our dollar purchasing power is taking a beating.

I remember them telling me not to buy gold at a thousand dollars because it was going to go back down lol
@edb38774 ай бұрын
True story here: When I started buying gold, my 1st purchase was 5 1-oz. Canadian Maples at $1184 each. When the package was delivered, my wife was curious about it, so I opened it while she watched. I laid the coins in their flips out on the table and she looked at them, picked up one of the flips, put it back on the table, and asked my how much these cost. I replied, "Just under $6,000." She was shocked! "How could you spend all that money?", she lamented. I replied that, first of all, it was MY money that I spent and that the price of gold would surely rise. I also pointed out that it isn't that gold goes up but that our currency is going down, which is why we have such bad inflation. I also told her that buying gold and silver isn't spending money, it's merely converting soft fiat currency that inflates away to nothing into hard metallic money that does not. It can be converted back at any time in case of need. Weeks and then months went by with an occasional gripe from her about my spending habits. And then the price of gold started rising. When it hit $1500 an oz. I was still buying but the complaints slowed and then stopped. After it hit $2,000 an oz. I never heard another peep out of her about this. Hitting $2400 an oz. a few weeks ago did not even rate a comment from her... or from me either, since I've learned a lot about living with my wife over the past 54 years lol

Premiums Are Low On Both Gold and Silver! None of us have a crystal ball here, choosing Silver instead of Gold may not be the best suggestion or choice. I believe in, like, stack, hold, buy and sell both. When asked this question I usually suggest splitting it up about 50/50 and if they're old like me maybe 75% gold and 25% silver.😇 and that's about all I have to say other than Thanks For The Video Seeker👍 and this quote from Norm Franz “Gold is the money of kings, silver is the money of gentlemen, barter is the money of peasants, but debt is the money of slaves.” Life is good......God Bless

Great post, so thanks for sharing. I too am an old guy, so get what you are saying. Unfortunately for me, I got carried away by buying silver and now have an 81:1 silver to gold ratio in ozs. I once thought that a 100:1 ratio of silver to gold would be good but have seen the error of my ways and will be waiting for the next silver squeeze to sell silver and use that cash to buy more gold. I should have done some of that about 15-16 months ago when we were seeing ASEs with 50-80% premiums. That would have been an ideal time to unload a few thousand ozs. of silver and buy 100+ ozs. of gold. But I was too complacent about my PMs and did not avail myself of that opportunity, so now I have to wait for a repeat of that time. Oh, well. Live and learn.

Silver is vastly under valued at 80 to 1. Most of the gold ever mined is still available except for very small amounts used industrially over the years. Silver however has been dug up used and thrown into land fills. The film and photographic industry and medical uses in X-rays were very large users. Now because the price of silver has been manipulated so long and so low that it is being used in things it shouldn't be simply because it's far cheaper than its real value. The bottom line is gold is going to go up and silver is going to go up but silver will go up as a percentage far more than gold and the gold silver ratio in the future will fall from 80 to 1 to 10 to one or even parity. Also the amount of above ground gold is understated by thousands of tons let alone the know unmined deposits of gold. The same can not be said about silver. There are few to none pure silver mines anywhere. Nearly all silver is today mined as a byproduct mixed with other metals. That is partly the reason the price of silver is low because the mining company needs the cash flow to keep the mine operational so they take what they can get for it. My two cents on this issue is buy and hold silver. In the long term it is the more important and thus most valuable metal.

Those are 50 pesos gold coins minted from 1921 to 1931 and again from 1943 to 1947. 1947 being the year where they were struck many times again in later years even as late as 2010 or so with the 47 date. This is why the 1947 date is known as a "restrike". The gold libertad ounces began mintage in 1981 with the classic design using the angel of independence as seen in the 50 pesos gold up until 1999 then in 2000 the gold libertads saw a change in design to the current version.

the inconvenience of buying physical PMs is what throws me off of buying more. You want to liquidate a large quantity of gold or silver and dealers want to rake you. Try and sell a "retirement level" of PMs and you will soon find it is nearly impossible to do it quickly if you are trying to target a market price
@edb38774 ай бұрын
It might be better not to sell so quickly. Just sell a little as you need to sell some to raise additional cash. That's my plan for my gold stack - supplement my retirement income, as needed. If it doesn't get sold, it goes to my heirs. Just like dollar cost buying over the long term works pretty well, so does dollar selling, also over the long term.

Right now, I don't hesitate to buy Silver Maples because of this, while I'll always ratchet back my purchases of other mints' bullion back a little. Any Silver Maples after 2018 are very unlikely to milkspot (ironically because pre-2018, milkspotting on RCM coins was so horrifically bad that investors flat-out stopped buying them lol). @@heinzyketchupy4175 It tarnishes more than Gold and Copper. Gold > Copper > Silver. It's more expensive than copper. Copper > Silver > Gold. It's softer than Copper. Copper > Silver > Gold. If Price, Corrosion and Strength are not an issue, Silver is nice. But those three factors are at play in almost every practical application where a conductive metal needs to be used. Copper wins in almost every category other than tarnish, and in those applications, we use Gold.

I absolutely hate junk silver. Costco, if you're listening please buy it up and melt it down. Thank you.

@@Mauitaoist my mistake you’re correct. It’s only considered a crime if you melt it down to sell the materials for profit. You won’t get in trouble for cutting on in half or let it get run over by a train. It cost more to make coins in materials than coins are worth currently though and I don’t see that going down unless they change materials.

Look at historical trends. There is no worry of a sustained drop. It's similar to real estate, and even the stock market. You just have to be able to wait out the bad times.

it is 100% a HUGE conflict of interest to sell the same product "on the side" that you work for at your job. The only justified reason his boss will let him do this if the "boss" is laundering stuff through this patsy. No business owner will ever "incubate" an employee to start their own business

I don't know about that. I remember buying 65 ounces of my stack 2 summers ago at 18.50 an oz. It's ten an oz over that right now.

@@rickstalentedtongue910 . . . . And you are saying that you shouldn't buy silver because it is not closer to $50 ? HuH ? I don't follow that logic ?
@hydraxc24784 ай бұрын
@@rickstalentedtongue910 Well, I look at it a multitude of ways. If shtf, I have it for just in case/bartering, etc. If it doesn't, silver is a commodity. And it still holds value, even if our currency fails. It is a finite material, that does have demand. Half of it that is mined is used every year. So it will always hold value, like it has for thousands of years. It IS volatile at times. So I would not suggest it for everyone. I am planning on holding for long term. It isn't planned as an investment. It's planned as a preservation of wealth.

Gold isn't 'keeping up with inflation'. It's market value is being evaluated based on factors like increased central bank buying. The paper price is way more than gold is worth right now because of it. Silver is following a more natural uptrend

Hi all! If you sold your gold recently, please give me your thoughts. My local dealers are offering me 1 troy oz gold coin at 94%-97% of spot. Are they low balling me or if that is normal? I always thought paid extra prem for gold coin would get your at Spot +, but it is not the case for me. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
