►I would have never gamed these irons in the past but Ben Ross have upped their game and they are coming out fighting because these forged irons for under £500 are magnificent

Got them few months back, no loft info anywhere. Love the feel though. They don’t go as far as my previous M4, but I am hitting it straight. Great on approach shots

I hit these in AG last night after work and im not kidding the 7 iron felt like Butter and i mean BUTTER. I also play a Chrome Soft ball so i dread to think how that will feel 😅 Hopefully get a set in a few weeks 🙏🏼

I've had a Benross 3-wood for 15yrs. Its on its 4th regrip, and my 'go to' club if i want some control on a tight tee shot or for a 2nd shot on a long par 5. It does raise an eyebrow or two when it comes out the bag, but those eyebrows go back down when the ball carries 220yds down the middle. I'm still hunting around for a new iron set, and at around £500 i'd consider it.

Well that's a turn up ... Ive been nagging several other guys to start looking at Benross and you're the first. Bonus points from me for that 👍 Ive got an old set of Benross cast irons which were originally called "players cavity" and I love it when golf snobs turn their noses up. I enjoy shoving it up them just that little bit more. I agree that for a while now they have been a bit pants in comparison but I think the new range looks to be far more complete than they've been for 15 odd years. Have a quick look at the middle set and tell me what you think 😉🤔 Thanks again for actually being unbiased here - many wouldn't have been. 🍻

I am having a fitting for the steel version in a couple of weeks. I like the fact that they are weaker lofted than most of today's clubs.£429 if fitted.

That’s interesting to hear as it means the 4i will be more manageable. Saw a review of the Callaway i300 4 iron 20 deg, 5 is 22, 6 is 25, supposedly a game improvement club. Trad lofts might mean less wedges needed which is a good thing

I have a Ben Ross putter, it’s very consistent only cost me £72 with a discount. Can’t believe what some companies want for a putter, James Robinson just reviewed a new PIng putter @ £600 😮😮😮

I currently game Wilson Dynapower forged irons, but have had 2 sets of Benross irons in the past, both excellent - their clubs are not 'cheap' they're more cost effective for the average player - do wish YT reviewers would get away from using the phrase 'cheap' when comparing to higher profile/very expensive brands. Benross openly state their clubs are more cost effective because they don't have to pay crazy amounts to pros, to endorse them, which in turn, pushes the price up, for your average golfer. Don't look at the name, just look at the results the club provides for you. And I currently game a Benross forged milled putter👌

Very interesting vlog Andy - Im sure there are plenty folks would look down on a player using Ben Ross equipment. But based on your testing they appear to be very good. You may wish to consider TITLEIST lake balls in some testing scenarios - only joking Cheers

You should review and play rounds with some of the cheaper brands like Ram and some of the American and Scandanavian stuff, would be a great touchpoint for golfers that cannot afford the big brands and would generate a lot of views I think😊 A lot of golfers want to get new irons but the big boy stuff is just not feasible; it would also appeal to American viewers who are a big golfing dynamic....imagine making affordadle golf trips to the UK and Ireland for American golfers. Sorry Andy I'm probably just raving again😂

There are lots of folk on YT reviewing cheaper irons, whether direct to consumer, or lower brands, often at about 50% of the cost of a major brand. Initially impressive, but here’s the however…residual value, after 2 years you want to change your clubs, your Benross irons that cost £450, are worth £75. I just sold my Ping 430 irons, 18 months old 6 irons, sold for £900 they cost me £1100 as i got a great deal. Budget clubs don’t always stack up re cost

interesting comment. I think the name Ben Ross vs Ping makes a big difference in resale value rather than condition of clubs. Some golfers don't have the initial £1100 outlay though either

@@andycartergolf the initial investment element is fair, and Benross are one of the manufacturers that address that market. But just checked eBay, most expensive resale Benross driver £15, so don’t hold their price. Ping as you know, do, as do TM and Callaway, guess you do your research and work out how long you will own the clubs

The back of the iron look a lot like Apeks CF16 forged irons.

Take a little 000 or 0000 steel wool to that top line and it’ll matt up nicely without leaving scratches. I don’t like the Paradigm drivers for that reason. They’re too shiny.

Are they forged though? I play Wilson D7 forged they feel and sound gorgeous when you hit them well. Also the pro happy to alter lie angles etc as a softer club

Tend to look out of curiosity. A lot of normal golfers keep their clubs for a lot longer than the manufacturers would like. Good golfers can play well with almost any clubs
