This video Bob Rasooli indicates how to calculate hydrostatic test pressure and pneumatic test pressure on process piping based on ASME B31.3. A piece of the basic information needed by any piping inspector and a typical exam question on API 570 piping inspector and API SIFE (source inspector fixed equipment) Exams

I wasn't looking for this but it auto-played after another video. I don't do much with piping, but it appears that you calculated the LSR (23300/14800) to compensate the hydrostatic test pressure for design temperature, which is completely ignored for pneumatic testing - I'm not sure why... For new engineers and inspectors, Lowest Stress Ratio (LSR) is material stress at operating temperature divided by material stress at its design temperature. ASME Sec II provides you with stress vs temperature tables for many materials. Also, you should reference the code edition you're using. Someone might see this video and automatically assume 1.5*Design Pressure*LSR=Test Pressure, but 1.3 is allowed in later editions...

The last part confused me. You worked out the set pressure of 765 psi, do you set it for 10 min on that pressure(765)? But then you said the procedure you start from 650psi and you add 25 psi until you get to 715 psi which is the Pneumatic pressure not the set pressure you found? So why work out the set pressure if you going to start from test pressure and increase it by 25 psi (because 10% is 71.5 which is greater than 25 psi). You said do this until you reach the 715 psi.

What about the Hydrogen Design Pressure formula (PL3.7.1 ASME B31.12)

23300 is your allowable stress in test temp and 14800 is your allowable stress at design temp
