The 2600K is still surprisingly usable, it even has a good stab at some of the most CPU demanding games around in 2024, truly a legendary CPU! That said, I wouldn't recommend buying it in 2024 for gaming, even a 4th gen i7 should be better due to additional instruction sets and 6th gen intel or 1st gen ryzen better still with DDR4, if you're looking to build something on a very low budget.
@JimProfit35710 күн бұрын
Well, at 4K the difference wouldn't be as wide at least. Sandy, Ivy and Haswell are real troopers that's for sure.

the 8700k uses Thermal Paste between the IHS and CPU die. If you want better temps then you'll need to delid it and replace the TIM with Liquid Metal compound. 3rd through 8th Gen Mainstream/Client CPU's and Skylake-X i7/i9-7000 series CPUs use Thermal Paste between the IHS and CPU die, which leads to worse temps. 2nd Gen chips use solder between the IHS and the die, and Intel went back to using Solder with their 9th Gen processors. 50c to 60c for a 2600k at 4.5GHz? Sure. This one probably has more OC headroom and TG probably used a good cooler with it. My 2600k could hit 4.8GHz with 1.345v and I was using a Corsair H70. Stress test temps were around 77c at the most. 100% stable
