Anyhow for max settings forget native, games are now using that umf of graphics power to get to ultra settings with upscaling and possibly frame gen. And that is a correct thing to do. What is wrong is using it to be able to even run at lower resolutions and lower settings. If you want max res and max settings you need to use it, not just to be able to play the game at all.

I just remembered that these developers released a pirate game called Atlas that was just ARK DLC reskinned to look like a new game. You could open an ARK menu if you used a controller. The trailer was also filled with fake gameplay. So them forcing FG doesn't surprise me. Also, this makes me heavily doubt ARK 2 being good or looking anywhere close to how the trailers depict it.

What's funny is they removed nvidia frame gen and fsr( had to be enabled in the console) and put in AMD frame gen. If you have an nvidia card you have DLSS but no nvidia frame gen and if you have an AMD card you have AMD frame gen but no FSR.

Yeah the actual gameplay is really fun and there’s loads to do, it’s really unfortunate wild card doesn’t give much of a damn about optimization. It was the same with ark survival evolved but with ascended they really didn’t even bother to make it playable. I use a 3070 ti with a ryzen 9 5900x and I play at like high to medium graphics to get a suttery 40 frames. But I’m just absolutely addicted to it 😭

ever since they removed Nvidia's Frame gen and replaced it with FSR's frame gen its unplayable as for some very odd reason they f**** force FG without being able to disable it via the settings. You need to use console commands to disable it. Like why? That's literally not how you are supposed to use Frame gen in general. Ever since that i just can't play it, its unplayable. It stutters all over the place, get lower frame rate than Nvidia's solution and VRR just doesn't work at all meaning there is screen tearing everywhere.

Even though some of the blame goes to UE5, its more towards developers and artist distribution of foliage, the density is way to much and almost overlapping without any sort of biome pattern, foliage should just be enough to cover the ground texture, so much of overlapped foliage will be a problem in any game engine

It's amazing to see how poorly optimized modern games have been. I just recently upgraded from a 4080 super to a 4090 and was surprised to see how little difference it made on performance. Now is there a difference, Of course, but Is it noticeable at 1440p and even 1080p, Imo, not really. The Only time I could visually notice a 5-15fps boost was when gaming at 4k native with max settings and only on specific games. Other than that, Poor game optimization and CPU bottlenecks kinda makes my 4090 feel underwhelming to say the least especially for the price of the gpu. Hopefully an actual noticeable improvement will be seen in the rtx 50 series, But I have my doubts.

They forced AMD FG after the launch of a new map, claiming that everyone with older cards would have around 80% more performance, but they just broke the game even more. Even for people with 40 series cards who where using nvidia's Frame Gen and could play it at a reasonable frame rate. After that I just left this game even tho Survival Evolved was my favorite game for a long time. They deserve the low player count, even lower than the old game

The reason UE5 games perform better with lower resolution even when you're not maxing out the GPU utilization is probably because of nanite. The amount of polygons nanite decides to render is based on the internal resolution of the game. I think the console command to adjust it is nanite.max.pixels.per.edge or something.

I have a 4080 super/I7 14700kf, at 4k I set the graphics to medium, and DLSS at quality, and my game runs both smoothly, and in my opinion looks better than at max graphics settings. Been a week or so since I played, but I think I was getting around 100fps, but it felt very smooth other than the rather regular frame hitches when panning the camera quickly while traveling.
