It just amazes me how many components an airplane engine has when its only functions are providing thrust and electricity, props to you man. I subbed.

Amazing. Have you had to remove many of these V2500-A5's?
@StigAviation
@StigAviation Жыл бұрын
Yes many times
@skullhart
@skullhart Жыл бұрын
@StigAviation what do you see are the failures that drive the removals?
@StigAviation
@StigAviation Жыл бұрын
@@skullhart it’s mostly the components and accessories on the engine that tend to deteriorate over time. But the engine itself is very reliable. The most common reason why we would replace and engine would because of any kind of overheating or compressor stalls that would damage internal blades. Also a severe bird strike would warrant a engine replacement. Time to time there are vibrations issues, but all these events are constantly monitored and recorded by the avionics systems onboard. If we see that the engine is constantly putting out faults and not working in peak efficiency, we will investigate the causes and replace as needed, either components or the whole engine itself.

@StigAviation I was in the USAF as a jet engine mechanic for many years and still love aviation. Curious how the engine health is monitored and if or how it's uploaded to be analyzed?
@StigAviation
@StigAviation Жыл бұрын
@@skullhart good question. These modern engines now run on a pure fly by wire technology. There is a dedicated EEC (electronic engine computer) that will monitor the engine at all times. Along with monitoring it, it will also control various components on the engine for optimal performance. This gets sent to the internal system called the FADEC. (full authority digital engine control.). All this and a multitude of sensor for basically Everything on the engine is sent to this computer.

So can the slats drive into the cowls also where is the TR Lockout.
@aleksandrfrizen3058
@aleksandrfrizen3058 Жыл бұрын
As I recall, there are notices on the cowls that warn you against lifting the cowls if slats are extended.
@StigAviation
@StigAviation Жыл бұрын
if the cowl is opened, the slats are locked out to prevent damage

2-3 hours. Not a hard job. Just a bunch of canon plugs and bolts.

Hi, thanks for video. let me correct a small thing on acoc, it is not taking air from outside, taking air from fan and sending outboard through the valve which you showed on the video.

Is the same engine they use on the MD 90 or is it slightly different
@StigAviation

Yes. That would be a the same engine on the MD90. Just with slight variations because it’s mounted from the side.
