The sad part is that even if he hadn't been good in 2I, his kit still sounds really good. He could be part shoto like Ken/Ryu, but he could have his own unique take that shows his lack of skill (like Sakura). He could even be part grappler like his sister. Plus, in canon, he's a lot like Sakura. I honestly hope they meet someday, it would be a nice parallel to have Ken and Ryu's students (two close friends themselves) be buddies.

Isn't Sakura already a university student by the time of V? By the time 3S happens she may have already graduated and it's unclear canonically if she continues street fighting or decides to settle down. Having said that, there could be a good interaction between an older, wiser sakura and sean on the nature of chasing your idols and defining your own path in life.

Wow, he even beat it before the difficulty lowered. (For those that don't know, if you lose to him enough times in a row he taunts to signal the game is starting to show mercy. The game actually turns down the difficulty when he does that.)

"Fun" fact: Sean's jumping heavies have about 3 less frames of hit-stun than the other shotos', making jump-in combos with Sean harder compared to the rest of the roster.

I always hated that Capcom nerfed Sean in Third Strike. He was a great character in New Generation and 2nd Impact. His double uppercuts hit hard and his ground tackle is a grab and not a hit. Now he got a lame uppercut that is not really effective and his tackle is a hit and not a grab. Even his Tatsu have recovery now.

Dude doing combos with Sean using his basketball taunts is straight fire and when you beat someone who's using a top tier the feeling you get after is so rewarding...Just dont be surprised by how many people start to rage quit on you....I think in the future Sean should become the new Akuma....more since it dont seem like his current master dosent really take Sean's Training to seriously and with Ryu all ready turning down Akuma ...it seems like Akuma could just sweep in and take advantage of Seans desire to become the strongest....then you could have Sean take out Ken his former master and have Ken's son be trained by Ryu and go after Sean as revenge for his father...

Sean main here , spare yourself the trouble. just pick Ken he's what Sean should be. You would you only get to use three buttons, any other moves, you win solely on the opponents inexperience. Coming from 2I I hated 3S and (still do tbh) but its americas favorite streetfighter so I'm stuck

I saw some official art of Sean as a Dark Hado user and I thought that could be an interesting turn. What if he got so frustrated by his weakness and no one taking him seriously that he leaned into the Satsui? Like a kind of Anti-Dan, so to speak.

To me Sean should have a more stylized shoto-based moveset kinda like Sakura (that draws less from shotos unlike Dan in SFA). I mean even more stylized than his 3s moveset. More personal character in his animations (also kinda like SF4 Dan) and focusing more on basketball and grappling (in his throws). That kind of random mix seems ideal for him.

This is imo the best way to give the game "more shotos" but actually not really (not a shoto clone). Sakura in 1996 was the first success case of how to evolve the mindset of shoto char creation. And recently the devs finally dared to give Ken more personality to his shoto moveset. I hope SF6 take things even further with his moveset.

If you parry both hits of the Moonsault Knee Drop, Gill lands closer to you and you're plus enough to dash and be right in his face. Insert favorite big damage combo here. Also...can't you uppercut Gill during Resurrection when he's at 20-25%? (Don't know the frame data on that, but I remember doing that.)

3rd Strike... recently I went to an arcade (sorta) and they had the game settings on highest difficulty, vs mode FULLY disabled and continues DISABLED... in other words, we had to make our credits count by beating the game WITHOUT losing a match, and it was a hard task on itself, given how you had to take advantage of any mistake from the AI AND knowing how to use the parry system properly (not to mention that the operator challenged us to do 1 credit run WITH the special fight against Q triggered) one of my friends and I somehow managed to pull that off by mere luck (well, my friend got it easy overall, but me?!... pure luck as I literally have a veeeery long time without playing ANY of the 3 Street Fighters 3 at all) so... of course I had to struggle the entire game, not to mention Gill made me restart the run 30 times before I completed the challenge (and I had to restart another 40 times in the previous fights before the good run).

Sean isn't the worst character in the game, it's Twelve. Sean still has buttons that do a LOT of damage. Twelve does half of what other low tier characters do, while also having very unsafe buttons.

3rd Strike is hard in general. It didn't have focus attacks like in Street Fighter 4 and no guard breaking gauge where if you keep blocking the opponents attacks too much your guard will be broken

Dear Justin, if you are willing to play Sean, please try using Luke VS2 in SFV, with the goal of beating command grabs or super grabs with it. I've been watching all of Poongko's videos since he seems to be the only Luke using VS2, but he has only countered normal throws with it, and you can tech normal throws. I was hype about his VS2 because parrying a command grab is something that's pretty unique... but no one ever does it. And I feel it's a huge waste, cause honestly when it was first shown, the move generated some hype reactions. I know VS1 is better, but I just felt hyped when I saw Luke beating out Raging Demon. and I'm hoping to see some of that in actual high level matches. Heck, I'll accept unranked high level matches if you don't want to lose rating. I just want to see if the move is ABSOLUTE garbage or whether it can possibly be salvaged, or whether (crosses fingers here) it might actually somehow be a viable pick over VS1...

I always liked Sean, was sad at what they did to him in part 3. It is good to see even professionals struggle with Gill. To beat Gill you HAVE to parry and use all your skills and MAYBE you'll win. I wish I had competed more back in the day, I could parry all day and night and played at a top tier level. Now I'm trash and I'm ok with that lol. I always just wanted to play for fun. Winning is fun, but idc if Ihave bad habits. The game is fun, I'm here to have fun.

It's a shame what Capcom did to Sean through in the SF3 series. In NG he was top tier and they nerfed the crap out of him. In that game Sean almost had a re-dizzy combo. It sadly ended one hit short of doing it.

Sean is low tier for a host of semi-complex reasons. The short answer? His supers are subpar and cost too much, his normals are all worse versions of normals found on other characters, and his combo potential is severely limited because of bad frame data (a couple of his moves are - on hit, which is just terrible). What makes him unique from the other shotos isn't good or worth the trade off you take when sacrificing Ryu or Ken's power. Watch Bafaels bad balance episode on him, and you will start to get a good idea. For less knowledgeable players trying him out, they will lose a bunch of trades they seem like they should have won or matched. Leading to invariably frustrating matches. You CAN make him work, but you have to really, really work at it, and unless you're just looking to brag it's not worth getting that good with him. Like with Twelve, but at least Twelve is a totally unique character.
