That is an amazing initiative, almost unbelievable if we didn't have this close contact with the modders and Max's own words thanks to social media, video platforms, etc. I only wish there was this same level of technical talent and engagement in the SNK community to enhance the graphics and mechanics of KOF 15. And in the SF community, to enhance the graphics and mechanics of SF5.

Finally jwong checks out this mod! Now we need yipes on it as well lol I think max and his team's efforts to resurrect mvci is incredibly commendable. Mvci was a fun game that deserves much more than it got. Showing us that an excellent visual direction and some fun new gameplay patches were really the least the game needed to feel much more alive than before. I believe max said they were going for an mvc1 look with the visual style in particular and I think it nails it. The comic book like visuals along with the avengers stage mod makes the game feels like it changed from a more generic mcu visual style to a style that is very blunt about showing so much love to its history and source material. If capcom could help with mvci beyond's development and get it on current consoles, we'd be looking at a complete resurrection of mvc along with the collection

About the MCU x comics/cartoons, it's a simple matter. I might dislike the art style (and I even have no interest in superhero movies at all) but I must say it's understandable that the MCU was the chosen direction for a new game. Because the movies became the front of the franchise, replacing the role that the cartoons had in the 80s and 90s. All old videogame about Marvel, including the Capcom games, simply reflected that focus on the cartoons. And at some point it was the movies that started being pushed, and consequently more games started being made following that new direction. I dislike all that but it's understandable. Pushing the look of the comics in the mid-late 2010s feels like a retro approach, which respects the actual Marvel fighting games but was probably not accepted by the higher ups. That's even the biggest issue about the idea of a possible new MvC game. The art style approach is uncertain... exactly because the movies still are the front of the franchise, and naturally that style would be forced on Capcom once again. It makes sense for them, even though it's not my taste.

12:45 dont worry they nerfed it, in MVCIB if you do super tag, the character who did the super will stay on screen idoling for about 5 seconds, meaning that if you dont hit the opponent, theres a very high chance that a happy birthday is gonna happen, its still good because of the mix that you get but if they block it all, you're gonna have to be really careful so that you dont end up in a happy birthday situation
