But because the game flopped, any future DLC plans they had were cancelled.

This might be the coolest Captain America has been in any Marvel vs Capcom game. I really liked the additions they made to his moveset, but it's so hard to get past him looking like a bug man monster. Plus the fact that the new model isn't goofy classic Cap now either, probably his best costume. Makes me actually wanna play the character.

Capcom needs to officially commision this project and throw it on every platform. This is LEAGUES better than what they officially produced for Infinite and would go well in an upcoming Marvel Vs Capcom Fighting Colleciton 2, if they throw in Marvel VS Capcom 3, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite and then this Mod on top of it (and throw in Tastunoko Vs Capcom cuz it basically uses the same engine as MVC3.

And by the way, that "check" is NOT a form of DRM, it is in fact, a Sanity Check. Games sometimes have sanity checks that prevent you from adding certain assets and characters into the game beyond the pre-ordained list either for memory or security reasons. One way you CAN get around this is by replacing assets with other assets. But this varies depending on the strength of the Sanity Check and often involves dumping the original asset for a new asset to take its place.

Hey max! This mod is hella impressive and super awesome, im probably going to relearn mvci just to play this casually. But i want to suggest one really small thing that i think would be really special, and that would be to change some of the post fight dialogue to be more specific and have more interactions with eachother. Everyones post fight dialog feels really generic, so id only ask that you just switch out some of the text. Specific voicelines would be really cool too but youd have to hire voice actors and stuff for thay

It's not DRM, so breaking it wouldn't be illegal, he probably used that terminology so people would understand it better. The more accurate term would be sanity check.

The point about MvC being the wrong franchise for super serious tone is so true. I tried both Project X Zone games and they lost me so hard once they became such a serious plot endeavor. The writing was so silly and fun, but it never explained anything and it took too long to get anywhere.

the game visually looks so much better, the problem I have with it is I never knew what was going on. With MvC3 I knew everything that was happening even down to frames but this game it's like non stop tagging and combos that seem like they go on 10x longer than combos in mvc3. then all the different gems. it's just seems overwhelming, willing to give it another go thou

With those security features by Capcom, I imagine modding in NEW modes would be impossible to implement. Can you imagine adding a Boss Raid to the game? Even if you could do it, it would probably require a lot of time behind the scenes to keep going and keeping it fresh, even if it was done on a less frequent rotation compared to other games.

Concerning adding new characters and the system they have in place to prevent "unauthorized" characters online, instead of trying to find a way around the security protocol, could it be easier to find a way to make a new character not trip the protocol in the first place? Like make a character using an existing characters slot and have some sort of toggle/menu to select whether to use the OG character or the new characters in its slot? I'm not a programmer or modder, so idk how applicable that'd be, just an idea.

I'm certain this idea wouldn't work, but throwing it out there anyway. Would it be possible to make a skin for a character that has altered moves? Let's say Iron Man skin, but choosing it turns his lasers into missiles. Hop forward a bunch of steps and maybe you've made a Ryu skin that functions as Ken with a completely distinct moveset, but for the purpose of character detection, the game thinks you've selected Ryu. I'm assuming there's no way to make a "skin" that has altered moves, but...I dunno, maybe it works around the security issue without breaking it technically?

It's a real shame that so many engines these days have dropped console and config files. I don't really mess with mods of this scale personally, but the console/config files that gave access to changing how rendering works down to every little tweak let me mess around with optimizing games on low power/older hardware way past just a few sliders/presets. A lot of time you could get games to run on medium or so just by having the ability to tweak certain properties when it came to reflections, shadows, etc. that a simple "low, medium, high, ultra" doesn't allow. I got stuff running at easy locked 60fps that looked mostly on par with medium or high settings, when the game using standard settings controls could barely hit 60 on low, much less maintain a lock at 60fps. It doesn't sound like much, and for me, it's just a hobby to optimize as much as possible with mid-range to budget hardware than it is to just build a massive 9950/i9 or whatever intel has now with a 4090. I already went through that phase when I was younger of building insane benchmark queen systems with custom cases for cooling and everything else. The sad thing is, there's a lot of people that can't afford past budget or older hardware that still has plenty of life in it, but the lack of optimization/ways for third parties to refine settings, those people are kind of SOL.

The only solution I can see (that will never happen) would be for Max to start reaching out to people in Capcom and see if he can work with them to get an exception, but that would essentially be Max asking to take over the reins of MVCI from capcom, and they'll never sign off on that.

idk if keeping the GFX as is is a good idea, yeah it contrasts with the characters but it contrasts ways too much, these effects have too much fine detail that fits a more realistic art style. It's difficult to look at them and not be distracted.
