Disney is a sponsor and theyʻve been going to the Aulani Resort for a few years (not during the pandemic). I know this was filmed months before American Idol starting airing on TV in February, and only a select group of family & friends of the contestants, and some people in the local community were invited. Iam is so thrilled and comfortable to be performing at HOME for his adoring family and fans, but this was all before he became known internationally from his audition and Hollywood Week performances. I know this because a contestant from Hawaiʻi went through this in a season before the pandemic, and she had to keep everything a secret (including that she didnʻt make it) even after the show started airing months later. All contestants and their family & friends have to sign an NDA. I donʻt know how the voting and eliminations work because they are pretending that these are live shows or at least this past week, but they really performed months ago. No one from AI is in Hawaiʻi now (confirmed by workers at the Disney Aulani Resort.)

Iam is bomb no doubt but I know so many amazing singers growing up in the hood, or church etc. that had the talent like Iam and for one reason or another just didnt have the chance for the whole world to see them.
