This is my first time seeing this performance and the first time hearing about Iam's story. After watching this performance, I have a ton of respect for Iam because it takes a lot of strength to perform during such a difficult time in your life. He didn't just perform this song, he executed it PERFECTLY. Rest in peace to his father Rodney!

Lionel Richie said it best when he said that Iam’s story was one thing but his delivery of that story was phenomenal. That Iam could connect with his audience in a way that no other American Idol contestant could is what I think made him a fan favorite and eventually won him the competition.
