Isn't she amazing? Such a great actress with a sweet flawless voice. Aren't their videos mesmerizing and beautiful despite the seeming simplicity? Aren't their verses make you think carefully about the sense? Aren't these melodies and gorgeous arrangements haunting and captivating? I feel that this music has smth religious in its ground

No one has ever understood how much I love iamamiwhoami, and why. I’ve tried to show people where to start, given them possible interpretations, told them significance of lyrics/objects/presences/etc in the videos... No one cares as much as I do. I started listening back in early 2010. I remember sitting at a desk, staying up late to watch the first live concert and being absolutely entranced. I’ve kept up with all the new music throughout the years since then. It’s still just as magical as it was to me then. ❤️

nkfox I just got introduced to her a few weeks ago and have been absolutely obsessed with her~ I’ve let my friends hear her music but they don’t really seem to appreciate it as I do~ but I feel like there is something more special about the fact that only a small amount of people can appreciate it. After all, she makes this music and her creatice work “To whom it may concern”

Where are you, my long lost love? It feels like yesterday has parted I held you closest to my thrusting heart Now the withdrawal seems to be starting You're not like anyone I've known With you, I flourish into greatness Extend my arms into immense delight Making my future vast and weightless Quite an undertaking of fair promises, I stopped hearing you crow Quite an understatement when harm surfaces that is hidden in snow I should have kept you safe Shielded from a Trojan war Where are you, my partisan? The last I saw of you was sinking Into a giant hole of nothingness As my desire started shrinking Or if I choose to take you back If I stand up for my believing (if you can steal me while I laugh) Can we make up for all the joy we lack? (it was the motion you were breaking) Can we start giving and receiving? (what is the purpose of me giving?) Quite an undertaking of fair promises, I stopped hearing you crow Quite an understatement when harm surfaces that is hidden in snow Where are you, my long lost love? It feels like yesterday has parted

i always like to imagine that iamamiwhoami is genuinely this glimpse into an alternate reality, but i just had a weird thought: imagine being jonna's cousin or something. like, at a family reunion: "so jonna, what've you been up to?" "I DANCED WITH HAIRY BEINGS AND FOUND A NEW WORLD INSIDE MY CLOSET" "oh...well, i went to the DMV yesterday."

2:01 This part of the song brings tears to my eyes. I guess it strikes a personal chord for me, but the way she delivers the lyrics vocally and physically is so perfect.
@Mansion11p12 жыл бұрын
My thought : Songs 1 & 2 : She's at her place. The clumps are keeping her away from everybody, she seems alone amng all her neighbours. 3 : The clumps take her away, this time the separation with the rest of world is physic and real. 4 & 5 : She fights the clumps. The struggle is metaphoric but we see the evolution from play to in due order. She seems powerful, leading the clumps. 6 : She comes home now that the clumps disappeared, stronger because she won. I hope she'll prove me wrong again!

I love the look of this video. its like they took all the nature elements of the earlier 'kin' series and 'bounty' series and mixed it in with other more modern and artificial elements of parts of the 'kin' series. when she crawls through that closet, its so symbolic to me for some reason. like she's connecting both of these worlds and making the worlds we saw in 'bounty'.

Lots of symbols for containment. The clumps evoking the rectilinear shape definitely relates to the bookshelf from in due order. If you think of iamamiwhoami's aesthetic, they have always juxtaposed the artificial with nature; the geometric, cubic shapes found in artificial packaging and building with the organic structures of nature.

Today I heard for the first time one of Jonna Lee's songs from before iamamiwhoami. It sounded cutesy; it was a whimsical love song. It was an act comparable to Sara Bareilles or Regina Spektor. And then I compare that, to something like this and I think 'Wow, this is more than music, this whole project is an amalgamation of music and art." While both sides are respectable, I think this one is much more honorable.
