I was ALWAYS yelling at these videos for not mentioning about reservoir levels while compressing pistons in the calipers AND not using bungy cord to support weight if the calipers....Good job there!

Well, actually, when you doing a job like this you want to disconnect the rubber brake line hose from the entire system to push your piston in. Many of these newer vehicles have abs braking systems that can be severely damaged by back pressure in the system. Unless you know specifically the job you're doing is safe from that type of damage. My '74 pick-up truck is safe, no abs brakes.

I purchased front rotors that came with the bearing pre installed, do i need to grease the spindle before installing? Thank great tutorial 🫡
@Slidewxyz4 ай бұрын
In response to my own question I solved it and learned another thing about the job. - bearings did not come pre installed. - lots of grease is required During my installation I reinstalled the front bearing that comes out upon removal of the rotor/hub assembly. But what stumped me was the rear bearing (which was not explained in this video as he stated). I learned the hard way as to why it sounded like a 12 ton metal bin was being dragged down the street on the test drive. The rear bearing was missing, why? Because it needs to be pried off the backside of the old rotor/hub assembly. Yes, its a good idea to swap out old with new, but in this case i just swapped the existing bearings and its fine and is an easy job in the future. Just use a flat head and a hammer and act like you are taking the lid off a paint can with the rear bearing. Installing is like your putting a paint lid back on, clockwise gentle hits to seal it properly!
