Extremely helpful! I can't thank you enough for this video. I replaced my 2008 4.0.L Explorer gas tank due to a cracked leaking filler/check valve fitting. I was able to replace, put in a new fuel pump, and filter on a Sunday afternoon because of the thoroughness of this video. Thanks again.

I love my 07 Explorer, Her name is Vicky, she's parked for now. After 220,000 plus miles she got sick and came down with a case of the timing chain rattle, after coming across your channel I feel the confidence to rebuild the engine. Thank you for all your uploads and the effort you put into all your videos. I hope you know how much they are helping us weekend mechanics save a few bucks and keeping these 4.0 SOHCs on the road.

My 04 Explorer 4.0 has almost 300k miles on it. I have had a rattle for the past 10 years & over 100k but not that bad. It really hasn't gotten any worse really since it started. 🤷

I might have missed it in your video. How many quarts of oil does the Ford Explorer take? And if I want to use synthetic oil, what type of synthetic oil do I need? 0 w 30?

Bro, the Vice grips !! Seeing that saved me. I got the wrong cam holder tools. So when I released the tensioners the cams slipped and I couldn’t figure out how to get the chains in time. Until I saw the vice grips. I order the right holder but it’s another 2 day out. Good shit, I can put everything back together days early. Thanks.

@shahrampeyman614 because all the valves are closed and the tension of the valve springs won’t snap the cam backwards (if you’re guide is broken)

Quick question, I’ve seen that the Mustang engine requires 11.8 quarts but you added 7 quarts not counting what drained. Can you go into detail why not the rest of the 4.8 quarts ? The trans itself shows you leveled it good but I’m very curious before I do it
@chensherman
@chensherman 19 күн бұрын
I have same question, I googled and it said it need 12.7 quarts , not 7 quarts .
@iamdjnam
@iamdjnam 18 күн бұрын
The torque converter holds the rest of the fluid. The converter will not drain when you remove the pan, it will hold the other 5 quarts. That’s why they recommend changing the fluid every 30k, it mixes it around.

Had timing noises coming from my engine for about a year. Finally it got way louder and worse one day. Low pressure light was on for a month. Watched this video 40 times, borrowed a hoist from a neighbor, pulled my first engine, found a sludge filled nightmare of an engine, power washed it, replaced the timing system, put it all back together, and it started right up. No low oil light. The oil intake screen was covered in plastic bits. Never done anything like it before. It’s been 1000 miles and the truck is still running like new. Anyone can do it. Took 3 weekends working when I could. Many thanks to this kid for his excellent videos. Successfully doing this feels so empowering.

Watching this in 2024, do you know of any rear guide that is metal reinforced? Seems the plastic arm is the lart that breaks. If not, what are your views on Melling guides?

I have a 2007 Ford Explorer with the 4.6 liter engine. It about 220,000 miles on it. I live in the rust belt and need to replace the two forward mounting studs on the passenger side exhaust manifold. This means I will likely be replacing all of the mounting bolts as I put in a new manifold gasket. I see that the head gasket is leaking (underside of engine are is covered (but not dripping) with oil. My question is SHOULD I EVEN bother replacing the head gasket? And if I do decide to replace it, should I be looking to replace other things at the same time - like the timing chain, starter motor and other parts? Thanks, love you videos, well done.

Great video. More informative and less edited than most other vids out there that really didn't explain everything and more like this one. Now to get under the hood and hopefully have the same success as you on my 2008 E250 with less than 300,000 mile too.
