Voice Of Art follows Favianna Rodriguez, Culture Strike and Sound Strike to the front lines of the immigration battle in Tucson, AZ. Local human rights lawyer Isabel Garcia illustrates how D.H.S. funnels migrants into the deadly Arizona desert. Activist Roberto Lovato reveals the truth about immigration crackdown and how it is big business for the prison industrial complex. Jasiri X, Invincible, Shining Soul and a group of artistic visionaries come together for a hip-hop/poetry cypher at the U.S./Mexico border before rocking crowds at a pro-migrant music and art jam.

The question: Why is Arizona a laboratory for Anti Immigration Policy. Arizona have the most migration deaths in America due to immigrants trying to pass the border into or out of America and or Mexico. Its said that the state of Arizona made a "place" A.K.A an place that's not run by the government for trespassers. It was made off of the hatred or the trouble of immigration. The oppressed made a symbol of hope, love, power, to show the immigrants they don't have to give up their spirit of hope. I like it!

Art born out of the struggle for justice, equality, and against oppression is the most noble and important art one can involve oneself with. All the rest is fluff in my humble opinion. This series is awesome! Well done.

I wish it was that easy to just say, I'm here, now i shall become a citizen. There are dozens of hoops and an unbelievable amount that one person is charged to apply. Then after the application process, it takes years to have a response. And if the person is given the news that they are chosen to become a citizen, it takes more time to receive the paperwork to again pay an high amount to make it official. It is the fear and the confusion of the process that pushes people away from applying.

I have yet to see your reasoning behind your claim. However, I will still respond. You can go to scholar.google.com. Based on your comment you might also want to understand what peer-reviewed journals are. From reading articles, a start "War on Drugs/Crime", you will comprehend the significance in the relationship between the portrayal of communities of color in media and the constant passing of laws that are ineffective in deterring crime. A great read: "The Culture of Fear" by Barry Glassner.

I think they need to become legal instead of illegal. I love Mexico and their people, but there are many who fought to come here legally and did the paperwork to do that who are Mexican. I agree with the boarders being up.

I think mostly because some countries would have a greater influx of people than others due to the opportunities available resulting in overpopulation without enough housing, jobs (ones that pay properly, not the ones many companies pass onto illegal immigrants so they can pay them appalling low and working in awful conditions). It's not like when people migrate, they all spread out evenly over countries, cities might be overwhelmed, bordering towns, etc. I agree with you though on government.

Well, if there is only a limited number of opportunities available in a given region, and if there was no opportunity left in a given location, why would people continue travelling there or rather what would stop them from going someplace else where there is more opportunity? You have to wonder why development and cultivation is centralized in certain parts of the world... I think it has to do with regulation, either with the extent of regulation or the function of specific regulations, and ...

blacks may have been brought here as slaves but that makes it alot worse because of the way they are treated, we didnt ask to be brought there and now that they are here, to be treated the way that they are is heartbreaking, i think thats what he meant.Blacks go through the same treatment that hispanics and other ethnic groups go through(and they were brought here against their wills)and have been going through it all for years,so i agree they need to band together and fight.

Anybody should be allowed to travel anywhere they want, whenever they want, for however long they feel is appropriate. Anything other than this is simply despicable.

It's unfortunate, but no country can sustain itself with open borders. Ignorant people use the immigration issue as an excuse to hate, but there has to be a solution to allow people to migrate, and also regulate the numbers coming in from Central America. I am 100% Central American, 1st generation American, both my parents were legal immigrants. I value the opportunities they were given by coming here, but they wouldn't exist if folks could just live anywhere. Immigration laws aren't arbitrary.
@joebazooks
@joebazooks 11 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if I agree with you, that a country is unable to sustain itself with open borders. Why wouldn't a country be able to sustain itself with such conditions? Why would the opportunities dry up? Nonetheless, whether or not a country can or cannot sustain itself with open borders, it's still despicable that one cannot travel anywhere, whenever and for however long they feel is appropriate. Thus, keeping that in mind, perhaps the issue isn't immigration but government itself?

also not all blacks were brought here as slaves, of course you know that right? there are black people who live in the U.S illegally and are threatened with deportation. Maybe the reason theres not much complaining and such is maybe because there arent much of a medium for it as such but this organization provides that, as you can see, there were black people being represented here, maybe their presence wasn't acknowledged as much , because of some bias but.....

I had to watch this video as an assignment for one of my classes that has to be done for my bachelors. My associates is criminal justice and as well, I have worked in the field. I can tell you that there are many untruths in these videos. I know the statistics and as well, Migration is a beautiful thing; illegal immigration is NOT! Lets' all get this clear, this is not MIGRATION it is ILLEGAL MIGRATION. Huge difference! Open borders? Ummm, not realistic, the countries they come from have harsh illegal immigration laws and fences.
