The thing I hated about 'Freak the Freak Out' is that when Tori was dressed up as "ugly" she was singing well but everyone still didn't take her seriously, but when she started to take her disguise off and became "pretty" and still singing exactly the same way, now everyone cheered and thought she sang well. It was the classic judge a book by its cover and that "ugly" people cannot sing. This episode (and most of Nickelodeon shows are this) was very superficial.

I think that was the point of the scene, the girls judged Tori because they thought she didn’t look good and assumed she was gonna be terrible and it ended up being the opposite. That’s why Jade and Cat tricked them to begin with but I get what you mean about the crowd paying attention to her after she dropped the disguise.

You also have to realize that when she was "ugly" her dancing was trash and the performance had no energy. It doesn't really have to do with looks if the performance itself has a lot of energy and talent. Her singing improved as well the longer it went on
