I love these videos. I was very happy to hear (paraphrasing) 'write down at the end of the day what you are going to work on tomorrow'. I've done this for a while and it really helps. Because late afternoon you are in the zone and it's hard to start again without a plan next morning. On the point of automation, yeah, be lazy, let some of our computer skills do some of the work. Identify boring / tedious tasks and get the computers working for us!

Yep, that's fairly common. The key is to figure out how to work within that system to carve out time. It can be done, but it isn't a passive activity.

Hey Tim is the repository pattern along with the specification pattern worth it?
@IAmTimCorey14 күн бұрын
Patterns exist because they are worth it in some scenarios. That's the key, though. Every common pattern has value in certain circumstances. However, every pattern can also be abused and actually be a major problem in other scenarios. That's why I don't love just teaching people design patterns. It isn't like they are always the right choice. In fact, any given application should ignore about 80% of the common patterns in most scenarios. So the question isn't if they are worth it, it is when they are worth it. That's a much deeper conversation and the answer comes with experience building applications.

@IAmTimCorey Thank for the video. Finding a starting point is the issue for me. I know the basic syntax just need refresher but OOP and making a project has been a problem for me, as a starting point is daunting. I wish could afford your courses. Thank you anyway Sir.

The soul of good developers has been conquered by so-called Agile development and Project Management practices that are rampant in corporate America. You don't get more with less, you get less with less. Over-regulation is killing productivity and crushing souls. Get rid of Agile, scrum meetings, project managers, timesheets, story points, and find out what a few good developers can really accomplish. I dare you to find out.

Like with most new systems, the pendulum shifted too far, for sure. There can definitely be benefits to these systems when used in moderation, but a lot of companies have gone way too far.

Why reboot…
@IAmTimCorey17 күн бұрын
When you reboot, additional cleaning systems are run on Windows that don't get run if you just shut down and then start up again later. This only applies to Windows, but it is an important performance tip.
