It would've been better if they had stuck to Colin Trevorrow's script for Duel of the Fates. Bringing back Palpatine (after they messed up his character by saying, 'Oh yeah, he, like, totally destroyed, like, his own Empire on, like, purpose and stuff') felt like a desperate move for nostalgia after Ruin Johnson killed Snoke. Saying Palpatine's a clone just makes me wonder, "OK, you are taking bits and pieces of Legends continuity; first with Thrawn, now with Clone Palpatine; why the hell did you say it was no longer canon?" I would have preferred that if they had to bring Palpatine back, it could have been in recorded hologram messages in one of his secret bunkers, or with flashbacks to the past with Snoke secretly observing Palpatine's speeches from afar. In one of the books, it was said that while orbiting Endor, Palpatine felt a dark presence in the Force far out in the Unknown Regions, and would have journeyed there had he not been killed by Vader.

the plots are mixture of the Dark Horse comics and the thrawn trilogy. Cloning should been automatic. You seen Snoke Clones. Palpatine had the Sith Eternals to resurrect him by using Dark science, Dark Magic and Sith Alchemy( Dark Science is the science you see in the tv 📺 show black Mirror). This probably was dark energy he felt in the outer rims. He had this contingency plan and he made how this plan on the labs on jakku. He learnt how to cheat death he learned from Darth Plagues. The novelization didn't contradict. it said it use Dark science and dark magic. It just didn't fully explain. In the mandorlorian we see a kamino cloning scientist who wants to clone baby 👶 Yoda. In the future I want be surprised if they do a another season of rebels on Ezra, Thrawn, and Ashoka and later Luke jedi school and how he became the Luke in the last jedi and of course a rey Animated series. Sith Eternals is about resurrection and eternity if the sith. The Sith believe in Immortality while the Jedi believe in Eternity. The Sith use biological means such as cloning or genetic engineering to live long but you can still die from this. The Jedi use the force ghost to live eternally because a force ghost cant die.

What’s funny about everyone that gets upset about how incoherent the story for 7-9 is, and how they basically just made it up as they went along. That’s certainly true, but it’s been going on since episode 4. Vader was not originally Luke’s after. Up to the point of ESB, Luke and Leia were not brother and sister. The only ones that had a true story arc that was planned were 1-3. With that being said, it is kind of silly that they didn’t do it for 7-9.

The novelization from Rae Carson was done months ago and early copies were handed out at C2E2 in Chicago. Umm there were a ton of hints in the force awakens! How could you not see them. I knew it after one hint lol. The music in snoke scene is the rots opera music in the cheating death convo. Obviously that’s a hint that palpatine is pulling strings behind the scene and he cheated death. Who else is talking to kylo through Vader’s helmet. Had to be Palpatine. Why did we hear palpatines Sith scream in reys first vision. Hint of course. Why did Rey’s first lightsaber attack mirror Palpatines Iconic first attack the overhead swing with the saber. Only 2 characters in film to do it. Why is reys theme eerily similar to the imperial march. Duh hint to her being a palpatine. John Williams doesn’t do things by accident and we know Rey is his favorite character. Why in the novel is there a voice that isn’t snoke telling Rey to kill kylo before the ground splits? Duh hint. It’s palpatine talking to her of course. Why does the snoke throne room scene where he is showing Rey the ships being destroyed play out almost exactly like the palpatine Luke convo when he is showing him the ships being destroyed. Again duh, hint. This is literally all just the ones off the top of my head. How can any Star Wars die hard fan not see these blatant and some subtle hints at palpatine. It’s honestly frustrating when I see so many say there wasn’t hints when there was countless ones. They are undeniable.

That's what I figured. Nobody can picture Palpatine getting it on but creating a clone as a "son" to eventually possess? And that son going on the run rather than become a spare body? Yeah. It seems there was some sort of mandate to keep the movie to a certain length and so the whole thing got pared down to just the action scenes with all exposition and character moments stripped out. Why? Who knows. This movie needed to be at least 3 hours long to properly tell the story. A director's cut might actually salvage this thing to some degree. At least it would all make more sense. I'm really starting to believe that they deliberately left important stuff out just to force people to buy a bunch of books and comics to get the whole story. Not cool at all but wouldn't put it past the Mouse.

Rey should’ve been a clone of Luke, engineered to be female and given subconscious training to make her a perfect assassin. Basically a Star Wars Jason Bourne. This would have answered why she was so good at everything, why she didn’t have parents (as we thought in TLJ), and why she shared a Force-connection to Luke.

As a little girl i never was affraid of Palpatine, I was always amazed and alerted for ever secound of the scenes with him, tbh i was more affraid of Vader without a mask. I am so happy that Ian is open and answer questions.

It's weird I live in a time where I don't regret not seeing a Star Wars movie. The more answers we get, the more obvious how little thought was put into this. I did just finish Resistance though and it made that time in Star Wars way more meaningful than the movies have. It's kind of pathetic.

@Brody Smith I guess that's why I found Resistance to be good in that way. They made the destruction caused by Starkiller base felt like it was of consequence to the characters in the show, much like how we felt something when Leigh witnessed the end of her home world by the Death Star. In Force Awakens it basically amounts to good footage for somebody's special effects demo reel.

Same with how non-canon Dragonball characters such as Broly and Gogeta became canon eventually. There's problems and inconsistencies with it so better to pick and choose the best parts to integrate. Try to put yourself in the shoes of a writer.

the plots are mixture of the Dark Horse comics and the thrawn trilogy. The Jedi use the force ghost to live eternally because a force ghost cant die.L

Watched the whole interview. Loved it - I'm pleased that Ian finally put to rest the idea that Palps wasn't a clone - or that they simply made that up "after the fact" for the book. I kind of always suspected it was the cloned route - I mean, they were already taking a lot of inspiration from Dark Empire. No surprise that the cloning part would come too. Especially given the backstory with the Clone Wars and all of the expertise that Palps and the Empire had with cloning. Lots of people never liked the Dark Empire cloning thing - that's fair, but lots of people never liked the Ewoks either, so you win some and you lose some.

It would be really cool to do a video on what object Vader would’ve tied himself to if he died as a Sith and not had turned back to the light. Love your videos, can’t wait for Vader 2!!
@prico33584 жыл бұрын
Someone needs to adress this comment or I’m going to flip. (Disclaimer: English is not my first language , but the point is to understand each other) For 40 years nobody have said this. And let’s be honest with ourselves. It makes absolutely no sense that palpatine would let himself be carried like a puppy by vader and be thrown overboard to the abyss. Heck I wouldn’t let myself be carried like a plushie like that and I am not the most powerful Sith Lord. Duku, maul, Vader.. none of them would let anyone carry them like that. Not even obi wan or heck not even a clone. Try carrying Han Solo to throw him overboard. See if Kylo ren would even think about carrying Snoke to “overthrow” him. Makes no sense. Before the prequels, sequels, extended universe... I believe Lucas planned palpatine to be an old space wizzard at the end of his game. He planned palpatine to be some kind of evil Merlin far from his prime just like Yoda. If the guy is just and old dude with some powers it may be easy to carry and throw him. But then the universe expanded, and now we know .... it’s really stupid. Si what are they left with... you have to add stuff to retcon that.. you would come up with stuff like palpatine wanted to be killed so he can bla bla bla... or palpatine had a bigger plan ... or come up with arbitrary dark side of the force rules. We accept it all... I don’t know.. in my opinion cannon should be something that exist from the biggining. Not the stuff you add up along the way.. you can’t change mid flight because then the entire cannon story would be a series of retcons and justifications. I think Lucas suffers from this, that what’s up with all the special editions... if there wasn’t a cow at the barn, why you then change it so there’s a cow on the barn now.... in my head the cow could possibly be cannon, you made it up along the way.. you are lying. You are telling me different stories every time you add a new part to it. You changed everything you just told me... and keep changing it.. and i have to accept it? The story itself is the result of retcons.. it exist only to retcon .. it’s not even the real story. For my opinion that is. Ps. don’t say Vader could overthrow him because he came back to the light ... sooo anyone powerfull with the light side of the force is able to... umm... pick up the most powerfull Sith Lord ever. .. Don’t ever say the emperor let himself be thrown... that’s not true, don’t lie to yourself... the emperor was clearly helpless in that scene.

Calen Hoover also , Jedi always do one good heroic stuff before they are turned into force ghost... why, i mean, why wait? What was yoda waiting for? He is old as F. Already. Obi wan mentions something about being to old too. Why? Why wait? ... Why not turn into force ghost as fast as you can see fit.. why do it after a very heroic thing. Obi wan said he would become more powerfull, and we see that they can interest with the world.. and do stuff... at least yoda could have said “you know what, I’m to old and I just learned this new trick, the galaxy is turning to shit... I’m gonna use it now. “ Or qui gon could have said, “so yoda, the galaxy is turned to shit, but no worries, there’s this new trick I learned , let’s hail merry this shit” .....

Luis Martinez it makes complete sense George the CREATOR has stated he was older and weak. He didn’t plan to be defeated but he had contingencies in place.

I agree with Alex G. below, Palpatine was about 86 when he died and unlike the Lord of the Rings series humans have the same life expectancy as the real world. I think it also explains why his lightning seems more life threatening to Mace in Episode III than to Luke in Episode VI, while the Emperor is still very powerful post Epis. III I think over the next Twenty-three years he would have grown weaker especially regarding his body. He's not gonna be leaping around the Senate room by the time of Epis. VI. Vader was the Emperor's enforcer for a reason and in part is probably due to the Emperor literary being weighed down by his age as the Force can only increased your endurance for so long. This can be seen with Yoda throughout the Clone Wars/Prequels and Epis.5 as he looks kind of exhausted after saving Obi-Wan/Anakin & lifting Luke's X-Wing. And to a degree with Dooku (he looks tired after several of his fights with Anakin) who was a similar age to Palpatine but remember he wasn't physically "abused" by the dark side in the same sense. Anyways that's just my two cents and would be interested in hearing any thoughts on it.
