I'm a aussie old man, and i confess that canadians and americans know how really to make amazing true cowboy songs. Ian Tyson it's not a greatest legend just in Canada but in Australia same. And will remembered ever. Rest easy cowboy.

This song is one of the last memories i have of my father before he passed away, he and his buddy Jim were avid moose hunters and always brought cassettes with music to listen to since the area they hunted was too far away from any radio stations and this song was one of his favorites, anyway for 3 days before he passed he was in a coma due to his organs shutting down and my daughter and i were in his room when my daughter played this song, he opened his eyes and smiled briefly before his eyes closed again, he passed away at 5:00am the next morning at the age of 92, we played this song at his funeral too.

I first met Ian in the early 1960's in the storm that U. Utah Phillips called "The great Folk Scare." A whole passel of folk singing pilgrims tied up at the hitching posts in Greenwich Village, New Yawk. Names like Ramblin' Jack, Bob Dylan, Dave Van Ronk, P P and M and many others waltzed to a different Matilda. Ian stood apart with his wonderful western voice. Whenever I want to hear a song of prairies, horses and love. I like to wrap myself in the warmth of a "Navajo Rug."
