Even though she didn’t play for the Lionesses, Lily Parr deserves a mention. Definition of a record breaking and trailblazing global megastar. She scored between 900-1000 goals over a 30 year career against men and women from teams around the world for Dick, Kerr Ladies. They were the England women’s international team before the Lionesses in 1970 and technically (although unofficially) World Champions.

Love this. I've got as far as the defence. I remember KB and would probably have Mary as we won the Euros. Lucy Bronze obviously. It's good to hear about the others. It would have been funny if Steph had said Steph Houghton! ☺️ Like Wrighty I choose Steph. Looking forward to listening further.

For anyone who doubts what Ian and Steph are saying without the footage, as Ian mentioned, I suggest to go watch the World Cup semi final from France where England came within a whisker of beating a US team that was awesome and built over decades. They beat Sarina's Netherlands team more easily in the final. I watched women's football getting better for years on TV built on the shoulders of those players named. To single one exception out, Mary Earps was the one who played most like a winner in the team that lost the last World Cup final. Such a shame she did not get the winner's medal. I still think they would have won if Steph had been picked.

Great show. Given flowers to all the great players of the past I'm not sure Ian realised how good Alex Scott and Asante was lol good Alex Scott was I think Alex Scott was a better all round left back than Lucy Bronze..If there was a male equivalent I would say Alex Scott was like Ashley Cole And for the women's changed how full backs played Lucy Bronze male equivalent would be like Roberto Carlos More dynamic going forward with a great eye for goal Obviously Bronze ain't scoring those Carlos like free kicks lol But most would get my point As for Asante the male companion would be a Rio Ferdinand/ Sol Campbell Can defend and dribble the ball forward I've seen the England defenders all great quality..but Asante was special Faye was a great shout as well So much quatity Steff Houghton was one of the best defenders..and definitely deserves to be in the team Can you imagine a back 3 lol England would have won the world cup
