I have so enjoyed getting to know Juan!! He is a joy and a pleasure to watch and learn from!! For someone like me to be able to see how this Aquascape was created was 🤯 mind blowing!! It really got me thinking about the different ways of making structures!! It was also so educational when he broke it down and told us his mistakes and what should have been different! It helps me have a different perspective and understand what I'm looking at, especially from a judge's perspective.! Because of course, I am blown away by the beauty and how this nature Scape was created!!! I really enjoyed the question and answer session as well!! Especially the first question about the mirrors!! I'm so honored as a viewer to have the opportunity and be able to attend this!! I hope to see Juan visit Green Aqua in future videos!! There was a great chemistry with all of you that kept me watching, smiling and wanting to see more!!! Thank you again Juan and Green Aqua for letting me be here!! Have a very blessed day everyone!!🙏🌿🐟🌿💚

The sense of artistry, dedication, passion and willingness to share what has been learned with others, cannot be beat. This is inspiring and humbling all at the same time. I hope Juan not only continues to push himself, I hope his trials inspire others to go further and to share their triumphs as well as their tribulations. Thank you for making this video and sharing your talent and the talents in this community with the wider world.

An absolute legend, I appreciate that he shared his work and creation in such detail to enable others to grow. One thing I would have loved to hear a word or two is how he managed to move the hardscape from the dojo to the actual tank. Thanks, Juan 🙏

Juans last words came deep down from the bottom of his heart. That was very intense indeed. Juan really enjoyed presenting his wonderful scape to the audience at Green Aqua and to the whole world. It was a pleasure for me to see him talk about his mistakes and also his successes while creating this awesome work of art. Muchas graçias, Juan for sharing and thank you to Green Aqua.

Again it must be said that this is high art. To create this fantastic world out of rock, wood, plants, and fish is genius. Just to know what the plants will do is astounding. And most interesting that he drew inspiration from gothic architecture and especially cathedrals. Thanks Balacs.

Did anyone notice mistakes in this scape before Juan started talking about it? Knowledge sharing is a matter of attitude to humanity. You do not learn that attitude, you either have it or you don't. Juan looks like a very special guy. I am glad that you , Greenaqua, presented his personality to all of us.

Another great vid Juan. FYI like Juan I also love architecture because sometimes it is hard to come up with Novel Geometry. Human structures make more opportunity- and once you have an idea for novel geometry you can go back and look for parallels in the natural world to naturalize the theme.

Thank you so much Juan and Green Aqua...I have stared at this aquascape for sometime and can't help but wonder if the light tones were reversed; the foreground being brighter than the background making the vanishing point almost blurred and the fish coming out of the vanishing point perhaps it would speak greater to the title of the piece. just my thoughts, and I am in love the piece all the same...

Another great video, are you guys capable of doing something imperfect? I have one question inspired by Juan's comments in this video - he mentioned editing the photography several times. I'm new in the hobby but pretty sure that IAPLC discourages editing contest photos. Could you arrange some kind of tutorial on preparing photographs for contests? What I mean is something specific for aquatic contests - not technicalities which are plenty on the internet but information about things we could/should/can't do with our photographs before sending them.

Hey, I was just wondering what would be better for a Dutch Style Planted Tank; ADA Aqua Soil OR Amazonia Light? I already have Amazonia light in one of my tanks, so i will reuse that if you say that Amazonia Light will be better. Or else I will get ADA Aqua Soil. One thing that i can do is reuse the old aqua soil (like clean if and then bake it and when putting it in the tank, add additional fertilizer to compensate for the nutrients that i lost previously) by like using that as the base with root tabs becuase it is old and then I'll put the new soil in. But that might mix the soil which might be a problem. So if you say to go with ADA Aqua Soil then I'll just get more of it.
@puchadesjuan7725
@puchadesjuan7725 2 жыл бұрын
In my opinion for stem plsnts is better to use the ADA amazonia soil. The light version will make your plants need very soon nutrients from fertilizers.

I’m a bit of a purist and up till now thought the scapes were 100% crafted rock…. Now I realise it’s small stones glued onto crafted polystyrene it’s kinda spoilt the magic. It’s like meeting the woman of your dreams who has huge boobs, only to find out their fake 🤣🤣.

Juan is a gifted scaper no doubt. However using foam as a form and just gluing rock to it seems like it takes away from what the hobby is. I just couldn’t bring myself to use foam as it is the actual scape here. It is possible to build amazing scapes similar without carving foam out. Balazs showed this in the red bonsai tree scape. Is this how everyone competing is doing their scapes now?
@puchadesjuan7725
@puchadesjuan7725 2 жыл бұрын
Dear James thanks for your comment. Foam is a usual technique, yes... some people use it in some way. There are hubdreds of elements used to scaffolding structures that are not natural like bricks, pumice (completely handmodified) and many others. Please show me how can I build the space enough to place soil for stem plants in the top of a rock structure like this one. I used this scaffold to give a different planting than many other guys did before in the cave theme. Just different things... evolution is not a bad thing. If we talk about natural elements... 90% contest tanks top places used cianocrilate or silicon. So yes... almost all tanks have un natural elements in them. I completely agree with your opinion, but this is just exploring new ways. What you see in the tank is just natural elements supported by a blind scaffold. I promise you that all living elements in my tank were healthy. So for me, is totally valid. And as always... there is not 1 way, there are hundreds of them. Just enjoy the one you want to follow. And... next year ... I have not scaffold at all! But i have used cianocrilate ;)

@@GreenAquaShop oh yes absolutely sure! I use a lot in some. Im not knocking Juan by no means! I follow his work and he is truly inspiring. It just struck me weird I guess as I assumed this was built differently. It is a stunning scape no matter what and still not easy to do. I think I was brought in to the hobby with the ADA mentality if not using unnatural things…. But I know most are now as it helps push the envelope if what you can do with scapes. It has opened my eyes and know I should and can try other avenues now. As always you guys have opened my eyes to more to this hobby!

@@puchadesjuan7725 yes you are correct! As I responded to Balazs I think it was more a reaction to not expecting this to be how it was built. I use glue as well in a lot of scapes. I meant no I’ll intent in my response. Just was totally unexpected! I greatly respect you as an Aquascaper and competitor. Your work is very inspiring to me and why I follow you so closely on social media. In today’s contests I can see why so many ways have to be developed to push the envelope. I appreciate your tank this year more than a lot as it was much more different than the, what seems to be standard diorama. I do apologize if my comment came off poorly or ill willed. Was not my intention. As I said it just struck me in a weird way, gave an emotionally field response as I had no idea that this was a way contest tanks are being built now. As I rack my brain each year how to build something even close without an scaffolding and still be able to hold soil back, build terraces, and so on. I know that there is nothing endangered in the set up, your plant health was astounding in this tank. It is something I feel I have severely over thought and not allowed myself to think outside the box on how to build tanks like this! Above all I appreciate your response, understanding, and explanation! One of many reasons you are one of the greats! Again I apologize if Tammy comment came off in a negative way! Good luck to you in 2022. This has opened my mind a lot in the contest realm!

The final shot is amazing, for sure the plants are healthy, for sure Juan is an amazing aquascaper. But this is somehow disappointing... To me this goes against the "spirit" of Amano´s IAPLC idea. I doubt he would agree with a foam mockup hardscape... I think besides the results, IAPLC is also about honor Amano´s memory and legacy keeping the spirit of the contest as he made it, we could let the technology for the canisters, the lights, fertilizers, etc... Ok, everyone uses cyanoacrylate and its not natural, but a foam mockup is a bit too far, at least in my opinion. But its honorable his bravery to show his hardscape, if a lot of people is using this technic, he is the brave one to show it. Maybe it even brings a discussion to obligate the contestants to show the process, photos of hardscape, planting and final shot could become part of the subscription or in sometime IAPLC will become a 3d printers contest. Once again, the final shot is amazing, Juan is a trully legend, but the process should be discussed.
