If anyone on PC is wondering about the charge level on the Xbox One X version's USB battery, you can check it under Settings/Devices/Bluetooth & other devices listed as "Xbox Wireless Controller". There should be a little battery icon and a percentage right there. Why this wasn't implemented on the PC Xbox Overlay, I have no idea, but it would have been nice to see the charge at the press of a button rather than Alt-Tab-ing out.

Just got one of these for my Series X, and pretty disappointed with three things. First, the cable is USB-A on the other end. So it's not capable of fast charging which defeats the entire purpose of USB-C. Secondly, the battery capacity is only 1400 mAh. With a pair of Eneloop Pro AA's you could have 5000 mAh. The last thing you mentioned: no charge indicator on the cable. I'm seriously considering returning it for Eneloops.
@TweitenTech3 жыл бұрын
I know a few people have gotten Eneloops and they like they. Always an option.
@prajaybasu3 жыл бұрын
This comment is so wrong. The Xbox battery is a Lithium battery that will have a voltage of 3-3.7V (depends) while the Eneloop is 1.2V. Both batteries come out to similar watt-hour (3.7V * 1.4Ah or 1.2V * 2.55Ah * 2) figures, 5Wh and 6Wh respectively. The Eneloops have around 16% higher capacity but it's very likely that the controller shuts down before all of that capacity can be used. So roughly both will last the same.
@nerijusgecas74282 жыл бұрын
@@prajaybasu Can xbox series x controller with rechargeable battery (modelno: 1727) be charged via a wall fast charger that outputs 5v-3A/9v-2a/12v-1.5a? I'm afraid to damage the battery since it is written on it that it “rating 3.0V”. I know that voltage must match output via input and amperage must be more onoutput than on input in order to charge it safely. Is that correct? What is xboxcontroller rechargeable batteries input data?
@fat_pigeon2 жыл бұрын
@@nerijusgecas7428 I found one of these batteries. Note that "3.0V" is a *very strange* voltage rating: the battery says "LI-ION RECHARGEABLE BATTERY", but 3 V is not a multiple of the voltage of any type of Li-ion cell I'm aware of. I suspect it may actually have a 3.6V LiPo inside together with a buck converter to produce the 3V output. That would also explain why it has an additional set contacts, which would be needed to charge the battery in the device (a basic buck converter is not bidirectional so you can't charge using the main pair of contacts). The Xbox controller will have its own voltage regulation to convert from 5V (from USB) to the battery's charging voltage. Your power supply's rating means that it supports 9V and 12V when the connected device requests it; it won't harm devices that only use the default 5V.
@fat_pigeon2 жыл бұрын
@Alex Derus As you note, The battery's rated capacity is 4.2 W*h. USB-A can easily supply enough power (7.5W or 10W depending on which version of the specification) to fully charge the battery within 1 hour, which is a very fast charge. Also, your numbers are wrong. Eneloop Pro AA's rated capacity is 2,550 mAh, not 5,000. (The Eneloops would be connected in series, so the same current flows through both batteries.) Also, this capacity is at 2.4V nominal voltage, so the energy capacity is 2.4 V * 2.55 Ah = 6.12 Wh. This is more than the Li-ion battery's 4.2 Wh, but not several times the capacity.

This video was definitely very helpful and answered all my questions except one. How is the Xbox supposed to behave when you plug-in the controller into the X console to charge? I ordered one and a controller coming tomorrow. I read a comment in another video comment saying you check how much battery your controller has in Windows's bluetooth menu, (if using on PC)

Good tip! Hope you enjoy the new items.

I have a question. So you charge the Microsoft brand battery pack while it's in the controller which I like btw. And I heard that those battery packs pretty much work the same way as AA batteries. So my question is, could you put rechargeable AA batteries in the controller and charge those while they are inside the controller? If so that would be amazing because then you would never have to swap them out which is a pain in the butt, you could leave them in for a long time and just plug the controller in every so often, and you could buy a bunch of rechargeable AA batteries which are way cheaper and higher mAh capacity than those proprietary battery packs!

Rechargeable AA's will not be charged inside the controller, you have to recharge them in a separate charging station.

Mine has a slot in the battery itself. Now I'm not sure wether to plug the wire into the actual battery, or the slot on the controller itself.

I have had my battery since July 2021 but it doesn’t want to charge and I have used many different ports and still nothing could the battery have just packed up?

What's the battery backup why did no one asked that?

1. Would it be better to get this if I only have 1 controller? 2. How long is the cable? 3. How long does the battery last when charged?
@TweitenTech3 жыл бұрын
I say it’s great if you only have one controller. No need to switch things out. The cable itself is about 9ft long. Battery should last around 30 hours after a full charge. Thanks!

I just bought one yesterday and i cant seem to get it charging. Its so bizzare. The Microsoft xbox official play and charge kit. Ive tried a wall charger and my series x console itself. Whats strange is i can get it to charge to what shows as the last sliver of battery before it turns red on the interface, but it doesnt seem to take any more juice. Im so confused and annoyed 😂 Edit: returned it lol

Hi, was wondering if the controller is plugged into a wall outlet but is off will it still charge
@memu12262 жыл бұрын
Nope it doesn't. Controller has to be on. I tried testing this out and found out mine wasn't charging unless my controller is on

When i charged my battery on the XBox One u could actually charge it when your XBox was turned OFF... now on the Series S, can i also turn the XBox OFF and will the battery still charge?? Cause there is no way to tell if it actually does charge with that new usb c cable... with the micro usb you could 😑
