my hunger was not in vain. +++++++++++++ love.. When My my heart gives out, it'll Never cease Beating For you.. and please know that: my hunger was not in vain. because it's taught me the meaning of *true loss. (though my desires were never gained.) * i still count the seconds Love,.. and .. they're still small eternities which keep you far from me. yet fondly i recall those Grave-Shadows in your Eyes. (they are the Rainbows of My Memory.) * speaking of Hearts.. Nothin breaks one quite like your Face; and i love how your smile tears worlds apart! (then leaves the pieces in a Better Place.) * i wish you understood how sacred you are. how even the shittiest of things seem better in your Presence. you are an Ever-Shining Star! (which leads to many Heavens.) * Love.. When my heart gives out it'll Always Beat for You, so my hunger was not in Vain. and Your Memory has made My Shadow Life A Rainbow! (regardless if it Ends In Pain.) J.Stephen.H

I highly recommend ywriter, at least for PC users. There is a MacOS version in beta but I haven't used it so maybe good, maybe not. It's especially great for the more outliner type of writers. It has lots of built in note taking and outlining capabilities.

Ywriter is without a doubt the best free novel writing software to be found. The only downside is that the UI is UGLY and there is a small learning curve. But it is super robust and it can track nearly every facet of your project.

Hey Iasmina, thanks for all of your open and honest vids. As a non-fiction popular science writer, I am often distracted by all of the plot and character tools in writing software and underwhelmed by the tools offered for books intended to explain complex concepts. In particular, when I write I want to be able to write notes in the margins, notes not only to myself but also to my readers. I imagine my book's layout to have the main body text only occupying a column perhaps half or 3/5th the width of the page, with the large margin space available for me to populate with asides, explanations, pull quotes, figures, graphs, illustrations, photos, maps, portraits, step by step guides, side projects, historical notes, biographical notes, experimental data, and other ephemera related to the main body text beside it. Yes yes yes of course there are professional book layout experts who I can hire to do this after the fact, but I'd like to do so as I write, as I work, as I think. I can not find any writing software that allows me to do this both for notes and figures I want to include in my published work, but also notes to me and to to my editors and publisher. Do you know of any software that I could acquire and use in this way? I have of course tried layout software, like affinity publisher and apple iBook author, but these applications aren't flexible, don't easily allow me to make changes to my text or margin notes without screwing up the entire rest of the book. Thanks for your help. Randall

This list of great writing tools means maybe I can pretend the problem is not having the right tools and that it isn't just me and my lack of discipline! For real though, thanks for the list of tools, I'm a huge stat nerd so I'll probably give Shaxpir a try. And Scrivener just seems too good to pass up.

I use Word because it has a lot of features I like. Yes, it has a lot more than I need, but at least I know it will do what I need it to do. I also love the newly added Dark Mode because it's better than being blasted with a white screen all day and night, and yes, I write all day and night. I like Google Docs too, but mainly for taking notes. LibreOffice and Apache OpenOffice are very good too. I like Pages but I don't use a Mac. I have it on my phone but don't use it. But I do use Word on my phone.

That's why I don't like using online software, it's a pain. I'm subscribed for space but it fills up so fast I can't work with it which is a shame because the feature to be able to work from anywhere is great. Ideas are always popping into my head at the randomest moments but I've taken to keeping a pen and notebook with me now instead.
@SimplySammyK Жыл бұрын
@@Gemzstone1 I wouldn't mind if they let you actually download the files to KEEP on your hard drive so you can delete old things but apparently thats not the case. Had all my stuff save to a memory stick, deleted the work from google docs, it still registers as being full and wont let me continue working... I hate google now, so shady.
@eliseintheattic9697Ай бұрын
They can also delete just because. They perform scans on your docs, and if anything is considered illegal they can delete everything and you never get it back ,and there's nothing you can do to challenge the decision. Imagine a book with a racy, or even violent scene. Imagine a character plotting to bomb the White House. It could result in everything being deleted forever.

Thank you for this helpful video. I like simple writing apps as well, just to write my chapters and outlines. But I also find the app with the timelines helpful because sometimes I like to write out timelines and character bios, summaries and side stories. Especially for my longer novels like my book series. And back in the 90s when I would write on paper in notebooks, I would make character bio sections and backstories and timelines as well. I would just write them on the side of the paper and draw a box around it to organize it. :) But I agree that simple is best just to focus on the words on a blank paper. And I used to be annoyed with the old typewriter because we couldn't change the font size. The title had to be the same size as the rest of the story. xD

So, which would you recommend for someone who writes only 1 or 2 times a week, maybe 300 - 400 words? Grammerly is deceptive. They said I could try it for free. Now after a year, they say I owe them $144.00 for another year. I refused to pay it because there was no notice from them that my time was up. I canceled it but it is still on my computer and I have tried to remove it but so far I can't.

WritewayPro is free and has the left side menus others have (there are instructions on the main website). It is outdated but a completed program. Otherwise, for such short amount of words I suggest ywriter as it focuses on scenes instead of full chapters. Pastebin can work too.

Don't get Shaxpir, it is crap. 1st off, why the hell do I got to logon when it's on my computer? 2nd, if you log off for a long time it won't let you back in, it'll just stick on synchronizing. The software does not even have a find and replace like word, an invaluable tool for writing. It ain't worth you time even if it works all the time which it doesn't. Oh, and good luck trying to uninstall it! Scrivener is better but it cost 90$ and is still missing that valuable find and replace all, that word has.
