@geniemoon...thank you for the comment. I'm not sure which essay you are referring to...is it the Higher Level Essay? If so, we are recording a video for that assessment today! If you are wondering how to choose a suitable global issue, I recommend you watch the IO video about "narrowing your global issue." We discuss how to refine the GI in that video. Good luck!

Hello IB guys! Firstly nice to meet you. This is the first video of you that I've seen. Watching this video was a great experience; thanks for that! However, I personally find writing an essay about the analysis that I come up with very hard rather than analysing the whole opinion article. Can you make a video talking about how to write an effective essay about an analysis? Thanks in advance!

A language element you don't mention is his use of anaphora--"How long can we..."--a rhetorical device used by many great speakers and writers, most famously MLK himself.

Very true! One thing David and I are struggling with in these videos is trying to decide what to include. We don't want the videos to be too long, but there is always so much to say! Anaphora would have been a good one for us to mention on this...thanks for the feedback and engagement.

Are these only for lang and lit course? Our teacher said that for language A lit students, for paper 1 we could get a drama, non-fiction, prose, song lyrics/ poetry. Could you recommend any videos for that?

The term Op-Ed comes from Opposite the Editorial when traditional newspapers printed guest opinion articles that ran on the opposite page from the Editorial. Editorials are articles written by the staff of the newspaper and sometimes Op-Ed represented an alternate viewpoint. The term Op-Ed is still thrown around but it is simply an opinion article. The New York Times and many other newspapers have retired the term Op-Ed since there is no longer a print version where we see something on an opposite page. Opinion Article, to me, is the more modern way of looking at this text type. It is essentially a persuasive essay that is printed in a newspaper or online magazine. Andrew and I might still use the term Op-Ed by mistake but opinion article is more precise.
