I’m confused about when Cole said CAS changed from “hours to non-hours”. As a Grade 10 student who hasn’t started DP yet, I’d like to ask how CAS is measured and how you know when you’re finished if they don’t use hours anymore. Thanks!

Questions: 1) I know what is TOK and what it is about but what does it really teach you? What are some of the topics that you cover? What are the lessons like? 2) What are some of the things you've learnt in Maths and Physics in IB? 3) If you've taken any of the sciences as HLs like Bio HL for example, what was your experience? I am in Beijing China and Bio HL is thought of as the most difficult among all sciences in IB! People in my school say Physics HL is much more compact than Grade 10 physics.

@@zhitongli1837 Oh wow! I really appreciate your comment because I plan to take Bio HL because of my career options and in my school I've heard that Physics HL is the hardest. Honestly whoever is taking any subjects for HL, I have a huge respect for them, especially Maths HL, HL for any of the sciences and Econs HL! Ya'll have big brains!

It is interesting to know about this because I thought it was learning about Philosophers and philosophy as a whole! @@LolLol-yn8uv Thanks. Fairly speaking SL and HL are basically the same in difficulty, only that HL takes more lessons and covers more topics.

Bio and Chem HL student here. I heard that Physics is the hardest but their grade boundary is the lowest among the three sciences. On the other hand, Bio is thought to be easy but their grade boundary is the highest. I don't know if you know this but the HL content is always based on the SL topics but taught more in dept. That's why I do not regret taking double science HL because I feel like I understand the content much much more by learning more in depth. Of course this depends on your own preferences. I think IB designed a very holistic syllabus as many standardized tests will cover almost exactly the same content as IB Bio and Chem. I personally enjoyed TOK too. You will find that TOK is linked to all the subjects and ensures you to perform critical thinking. My teacher covered ways of knowing first and our units are based on the different areas of knowledge. At the end, all you have to do is to apply the thinking skills in TOK concepts, so you never have to "study" for TOK. In terms of Maths, I took AA. I chose AI at the beginning but I switched to AA after 3 months (rough times) because I noticed that a lot of science majors DO NOT accept AI SL. At the time I was thinking between AI HL and AA SL. But I'll already have too many HLs so I chose AA SL. You will find that AA SL does cover a lot more content that is not covered in AI SL. But I have to emphasize that AI SL IS NOT THE OLD MATH STUDIES! So I guess just choose based on your universities' requirements.

There doesn't seem to be substantial changes in recent years to be honest! Paper 1 and 2 are basically interchangeable for HL and SL, only that HL has a maths Paper 3.

@@zhitongli1837 So content is more or less same? In the syllabus guide it just said a couple of topics like "behavioural economics" and a few others are being added. So can I follow KZbinrs like econ plus dal and jason Welker for the most part of the syllabus? I mean I am currently in grade 10 (going to 11 in 2 months) and I thought watching and learning the videos uploaded by Jason Welker can give me a head start. Will it?? Thanks

The oral part is different. The material used to be randomly selected by the examiner but now you designate your own material and your own global issue!
