I worked in a factory for a while years ago and it had submersion tanks with tones of rusty water that needed draining and cleaning every two weeks. The company had a really old George that did this and had for years. It took an absolute beating. I vowed after witnessing the relentless performance of my his little vacuum I would one day buy one. Mywife has so far vetoed this and bought various Dysons or whatever. They have usually looked cool and do certain things very well at least for a while but become unreliable or have other disappointing attributes. I’m going to buy myself a George soon for cleaning the car and sofas and fulfil this modest ambition. I’m certain it will out live a dozen shiny digital display flashing lights modern crap vacuums the Mrs brings home.

I own a George and agree with you about it not being great at large areas of carpet with the large carpet head provided. Mine was bought for cars. I really wished It has better performance on room size carpet but it is superb on seats in the car with the valet/upholstery attachment as your video explains very well. House carpets are very hard work but I get great results as I use the upholstery tool on my home stairs and carpets. I spray, work it in with a brush nozzle by hand and not fitted to the machine then spray again and extract with the smaller upholstery tool. This way I work m2 area at a time it gets really cleaned well and dried as best as possible. After the carpet is fully dry just a normal “Henry” vac over has any loose lint picked up and the pile in the carpet gets pulled up neat. If I was cleaning room carpets more often I would go for the Karcher Puzzi range of cleaners £200 more than George. The grey Puzzi ones are top notch the lance has a handle mid way down it like a lawn trimmer allows you to push down on the pull back suction stroke over the carpet. The Puzzi carpet tool has a wide head better suction with easy visible tanks for cleaning solution and collected dirty water. Plus I would still always use a scrubbing brush on a long handle to work out trapped hairs and loose fibres from the carpet. Rotary brush cleaners of any brand need too much picking cutting out of hair to keep working time to a minimum. Sorry this is so long but thanks for reading. Cheers

We use commercial grade van mounted carpet and upholstery cleaning units that run off the engine, including using the coolant to heat up the water to boiling temperatures. Always make sure to avoid over wetting and under drying when cleaning carpets and furniture, and be careful with cleaning natural fabrics and fibres as cellulosic browning may occur.

A Henry wash is only designed for wet use as it doesn’t come with a filter and cleaning tools for dry use. If you don’t want to use the cleaner as a conventional vacuum, then the Henry Wash is cheaper. It comes with the carpet washing tool, upholstery nozzle and hard floor head like the George. Ibaisaic hope you're well good sir. I have a question and I think it's the $64,000 one. Does one buy a George or pay for a professional to service carpets and upholstery once a year or hire a cleaning machine? Is it worth it to have George to maintain after a professional clean? Truth be told, George can't be expected to clean as thoroughly as a hire machine or a professional. But is going to clean well enough to justify the initial purchase all things considered? Also, professional upholstery cleaners tend to decry diy vacs such as George. They reason that they leave too much water and soap in the carpet. This attracts dirt and ruins the carpet faster. Obviously a truck mounted machine will extract all the soap and heat water to a higher temperature and therefore clean it better. Hope to hear your opinion on the matter. Cheers

Hello ibaisaic I have the same Numatic George and am trying to clean an 8 year old carpet that has never been washed and finding using as you suggest gives very limited results with the dirt still there so what would you suggest I do...i am also using the vax ultra+ as the solution.
@ibaisaic4 жыл бұрын
The George is not great at carpet cleaning using the large spray nozzle as it doesn’t agitate the fibres. You could pre treat a section of carpet by spraying the solution and leave it for a few minutes, agitate the carpet with a brush and then suck up the solution. When the whole carpet is dry, go over it again using water only to rinse it. You may get better results using the upholstery wash tool, but obviously it will take a long time.
@jessyicasonlineservices79234 жыл бұрын
@@ibaisaic Thanks for that quick reply ..one thing I forgot to say was that it is carpet on the stairs and not the part we would stand on (tread) but the other part (riser) I have also tried leaving overnight a mixture of Flash multi-surface and stain removal then next morning using the vax ultra+ and warm water inside the Numatic George with that special stairs nozzle but I haven't given it much of scrub to agitate the dirt. Do you think the vax ultra+ would be strong enough with agitation to do the job or is there something else on the market that has a good reputation in dealing with extra difficult carpet dirt?. It is a rental property so this is why it hasn't been washed for years. One more question.. Numatic George vs any Vax model who wins?
@caskwith7 жыл бұрын
Nice detailed video as always. I love my George, as you say not the easiest to use for carpets but there is no better all round cleaning machine IMO, the versatility is brilliant and what is really nice is that you get all the accessories included, no expensive extras or fancy shampoo needed. It's also quite easy to maintain, my solution tube developed a leak and it was quite straightforward to replace with a new piece of hose. I am missing the float ball in my machine, Numatic don't seem to want to reply to my emails about a replacement though, shame their customer service isn't as good as their products.

I have used my Heorge twice now and u get liquid/foam coming out the exhaust. Is this because it is full. How do you know the ball valve has been activated? Thanks
@ibaisaic3 жыл бұрын
It is probably not full enough for the ball valve to rise and cut of the suction, but excessive foam can exit the cleaner, especially if the surface has been shampooed before. To stop this, add defoamer to the main tank. You will know when the ball valve activates as the motor will sound more high pitched than normal and there will be hardly any suction at the nozzle.

Hello sir, I am seriously thinking about purchasing a GEORGE vacuum here in the USA (probably from Amazon) for my vehicle detailing (aka VALETING in the UK :) ) . I want to use the unit as both a great vacuum cleaner with superior suction capability compared to shop vac's (I've tried multiple ones, purchased 3 different ones over the years that had crappy suction, and they just didn't do a very good job getting the interior dirt off the carpets and upholstery in the vehicles. I've heard (and seen on KZbin) good things about GEORGE. I also need an extractor and I thought this particular vacuum would be the perfect vacuum to use as a "dual purpose" machine. My question essentially is: "What is your opinion of this machine to be used as a "dual purpose" unit for vehicle valeting? Is it difficult to switch between using as an extractor and then back to vacuum mode? I only plan on using the extractor feature occasionally, every few months probably. I plan on using the VACUUM portion of the unit quite frequently to vacuum out my vehicles. THIRD: "Do you recommend anything else other than GEORGE for valeting? I want the strongest suction unit I can get my hands on for vacuuming vehicles, which comes with a good assortment of attachments such as the round brush, crevice tool, and others. Even if I had to purchase a separate extractor, i'd be fine with that. The good VACUUM is my priority. Thank you so much for your in depth (and comical sometimes) reviews! I just watched your Henry head to head competition video on all the models and I was actually looking at the Henry Xtra before I saw your KZbin channel. Searching Henry brought me to your channel. Thanks again sir for any information you can provide. Cheers mate. Thank you from Maryland, USA!
