How to transpose on the Alesis Vortex Wireless 2

I don't transpose on the Vortex, but I often use the octave + or - to extend the range of the keyboard.

Have you tried using the octave keys to change tones? Simply set up a synth with a sound patch that has several tones, then set each tone a different key range. Some software synth plug-ins support key ranges too.

Hello, You can make this by ALESIS VORTEX WIRELESS 2 Editor : On PROGRAM CHANGE KEYBED, you'll see LOWER ZONE (LZ) or UPPER ZONE (UZ). On TRANSPOSE, you select in each PRESET 1, PRESET 2,... : - PRESET 1 LZ =0 UZ = +1 C Db - PRESET 2 +2 +3 D Eb - PRESET 3 +4 +5 E F - PRESET 4 +6 +7 Gb G - PRESET 5 +8 +9 Ab A - PRESET 6 +10 +11 Bb B ...and you have semi-tone and all keys to transpose. Really loving your videos! I just wanted to ask if there were any good applications to use for producing sound with the alesis vortex 2? This is my first keytar and midi instrument so this is all new to me. Thanks

Hi, Are you using a Windows computer, an Apple Mac, an Android phone/tablet or an iPhone/Ipad? Garageband for Apple Mac, iPhone or iPad is quick and easy to use, the Vortex comes with Ableton Lite free download and some free download plug-in synths that provide a huge range of sounds for Windows computers or Apple Mac. Ableton lite is more complicated to set up (and use) than Garageband but Garageband is pretty basic (but you can add a plug-in synth like Crystal by Green Oak Software that supports pads/faders etc). What do you want to do (create and record songs or just have fun playing the Vortex?), and what kind of sounds do you like?

4Wheels Auto There is no transpose button on the Vortex wireless 2, so you have to set transpose in the editor software. That said, if you use the Vortex wireless 2 with Ableton live you can assign any pad or slider to transpose.

Hi, Does the transpose functions in Logic?

@ROSHANCHACKOMusic The vortex wireless 2 transpose setting works in Garageband, so it should work in Logic. Just be aware that the transpose setting is set in the vortex editor app and the app is 32 bit, so the app will not work on the newer 64 bit only versions of Mac OS (and is not available for ios).

Please can I have a one on one session with you (paid not free), even if it's just for 10 or 15 minutes. I'm having problems trying to make use of my alesis vortex 2 preset editor, especially for transposing. I've followed your videos and did exactly as you taught but all to no avail. I also do not have any DAW program open while trying to send a preset and it sends successfully, but doesn't work fine on the device(keytar). Like the transpose, if i set it 2 semitones higher on the upper level, I can only press the upper level button on the keytar just once and I can't change it again. But in your videos, you uses that upper level button to change the keys or go higher in between the inputed semitones as much as you want. Please I'm stuck and devastated with this problem because I can't play all the keys thus keeping the vortex at home and can't use it on stage. It really breaks my heart because I can't make use of what I spent money to buy. Please I will really appreciate if I can get a response from you. Or tell me how I can officially reach out to you. Chiagoziem Elgibbor Hi, I don't currently do one to one sessions but will be setting up to do this soon. You can though contact me on my website (www.iband.co.uk). You can only set one transpose on the upper zone per preset. If you want more than one transpose setting for the upper zone, set a different transpose for each preset on the vortex (the vortex stores 25 presets). Then on the vortex, press the preset buttons to select the preset you saved with your chosen transpose. Then press the preset buttons again when you want to use a different transpose and select the preset you saved with the different transpose setting. You will of course have to remember which preset has which transpose setting.
