Good video, please allow me to contribute a few comments. In addition to checking the neck, check frets for high spots. (get professional help if you need fret leveling!). + While strings are off: confirm fretboard radius, clean and polish the neck. polish painted body with a quality Carnauba wax. + Check strap button screws, output jack, tuning machine screws, tuning machine nuts, control knobs, and gently tighten as required. + Polish the frets before cleaning the fretboard. + Clean, then condition the fretboard. Do this after cleaning the frets to remove any tape adhesive that may hold dust/grime. + Check pickup height foam add/replace if necessary. + Lightly lube the string nut slots, saddle height adjustment screws, and intonation screws at the saddles (not full length of the screws). + For any screws going into the body, drag the threads across a candle to pick up a little wax (they go in easy and will come out easy). + Possibly be proactive and replace the 9v battery.

Great video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I will be washing my hands before I touch my baby. Where did you get your notched straight edge and 12" radius tool? I could definitely use those. I had some wicked neck bow causing terrible string buzz. I got it out following your instructions. Would have been easier with the proper tools.

I just got one of these basses in an auction but I play guitar and gonna give bass a shot. But my question is whats a good set of pickups and pre amp to put in this bass? I'd prefer if I didn't have to use a battery either. Does anyone know if there's a mod for this?

What is the 9 volt battery for? What does it do? When do you replace it? Do other basses have that?

Hi buddy can you please do a video on how to change the knobs on that particular bass, I have the same bass and want to change the knobs on it for metal knobs
@chrismartin49254 жыл бұрын
they just pull off, use a pick or something to loosen them if u cant get them off with your fingers. I have the same bass too :)

KZbin has a few videos showing how to remove them with a rag. That works perfectly unless you have the type with a set-screw or a collet but KZbin to the rescue there too.

They pull off. I replaced with Fender metal knobs. You may need to add a brass collar then slide the knob over it for a nice snug fit. Then tighten the set screws.

I just changed the knobs on my gio bass. You'll need a set of pliers to get them off. And remember to leave a little space for the buttons to move. I had to adjust when I did it. Lol

All of a sudden my gsr200 developed a buzz on the 1st fret of the D and G strings, just there and it's annoying... Any advice?

Either you need a new nut or the fret has worn.

Did u just tie the string around ?
@kenlong34864 жыл бұрын
There is a slot in each peg to insert the string before winding.

The cost of a professional bass setup varies due to cost-of-living and the cost of running a business. In the northeast USA it could be $250+ whereas in the South/Midwest it could be $55-75 . . . plus the cost of bass strings typically being $30-45

James Minckler Hi I don't own this bass I just performed maintenance on it

James Minckler I have one, got it to replace a really cheap bass I had and this was a good step up playing and soundwise. As a beginner I like it a lot, I've not played many other basses so a more experienced player could give more detail and comparison. If like me, you're looking for something to learn to play a bit on and it's at your price range, I don't think you can go wrong with it, but beyond that I can't really say. Thanks for the video on setup and cleaning, very useful.

@@Stonemonkie1 can you use it without the battery?
@Stonemonkie14 жыл бұрын
@@g.sferrazza10-13 I modified the electrics in mine a while ago and I can't remember to be absolutely sure but I think it does need the battery. Its only the bass boost pre-amp that requires the battery though, I replaced that and the tone control with EMG active tone controls but I also replaced the main volume with a push/pull volume knob that I can pull out to bypass the active electronics.
