lo-pro edge is the best floating bridge in my experience. one thing i didn't know when I first got mine was when you adjust the action you have to unlock the stud bolts inside the posts. Floyd's don't have that but luckily i didn't do any damage before I realized what was up lol 😅 the only critique i have of this bridge is the trem bar bushings, they're kinda wack and sometimes I have to spin my trem bar around a couple times and it some how gets tighter despite nothing screwing in lol, very minor issue but that's the only 'problem' I've had with mine.

Ah right, the locking studs! They're usually not locked from the factory but in actuality who knows. Great for people to know! Thankfully once you do know, they're easy to unlock with the smaller allen key. And yeah those bushings are very disappointing on an otherwise amazing bridge

Living in Japan, those bushings are not expensive here. It ables the bar fitting in the bridge in a smooth way. Lopro IMO the best tremolo ever. Look for the ibanez video describing how to set it properly. The only thing I would like to complain about it, is that rhe ibanez tool does not include a flat driver adapted to the bar socket screw diameter. Bought a 10mm one, and it works like a charm.

That's a great point, its very odd they don't include some tool for that! Good thing a 10mm wasn't too hard to find. It's a great bridge, I agree!

The best feeling and most stable IMO

Agreed! Huge fan of this bridge

@HighZ yeah I thought I'd have trouble setting it up the first time when changing strings, with different tension. But after watching a vid on how to tighten the bridge against a block at the right hight. Change strings, tune, remove block, then loosen springs till in tune. It was a cake. And to even make strings changes even faster I run the strings backwards in the tuners. So the washers at the tuners. So I only have to make one cut. And the tuners are more stable with less twists. Don't even need the nut locks. I keep them loose till the strings stretch. And sometimes forget to tighten them. And rarely have to tune

Great trick! It's a stable bridge and there's lots of tricks like that to do

By far the best floating trem imo. If feels amazing on the hand, and it feels like it wants to be used. My floyd rose trems that I have I feel like I have to fight them for dive bombs. Almost feels like I’ll break something. But the lo pro just feels amazing

The bridge handles really well for sure! I don't do whammy stuff that often but when I do, I usually go for using this bridge

These bushings are the bane of my existence. I know there are several more economical ways to ensure a tight fit-using plastic guitar string packages being my favorite-because paying 7-8€ or whatever usurious price Ibanez charges for 4 pieces is insane.
@HighZ21 күн бұрын
Haven't heard of the plastic string method before but that's a good idea and something to try when the plumber's tape fails! Definitely a bummer with these bushings and it seems to be random across guitars. This one still has the original bushings but my rg550 genesis had its bushings fail around day 2 or 3

Cant you just take out the whole arm unit and put in a Floyd Rose push in style? Having to replace the arm on a 350 dollar bridge is kind of a joke I realize.
@pauln680317 күн бұрын
@@bwgti It's not the whole arm but two nylon collars that clip around the arm for tension. They should really be a matter of pennies/cents but instead cost around ten £/€ for four.

I bought a jcustom as my main daily driver and it came with this bridge. As my first and main guitar I find it was a bit of a learning curve for setup and retuning. I decided to forgo the whammy functionality for now because at my level, being able to switch between tunes without a full setup is worth more and eventually in the future when I want to come back I'll just take the trem lock off and have it fully functional. Overall very happy with the versatility and stability.

Great choice! That's going to be an extremely stable setup with the bridge locked

I have this in RG 7620. Built like a tank. Swap the springs into Gotoh PSP and you're good to go

Nice, love my Lo-Pro. Feels a bit better than my Japanese Gotoh on my Jackson and definitely better at flutters. I don't use it heaps, but one of my videos has me working it a bit. I did like a scale run and used it with each note change. Questions re setting the action: 1. Do I loosen the locking nut and detune before altering the bridge height? 2. Do I block the trem from going back if I am detuning?
@HighZ21 күн бұрын
Its a pretty good bridge! Definitely fun to both play around with and also use musically. To answer your questions, you'll have to make sure there's no force against the knife edges so they don't grind against anything so ideally the strings would be loose and the claw springs removed. Not too difficult to do but really tedious. For detuning I don't have a set procedure. Either I'll block, tune, then unblock and adjust the claw or I'll just detune and mess with the claw as I go. Either way I always seem to have to keep tuning several times

@HighZ thanks, I think I dropped the Gotoh slightly lower but haven't tried the Lo-pro before. Starting to learn to sweep pick and really noticing the limitation of a higher action.

The bridges ability to flutter does not necessarily dictate wether the bridge will stay in tune or not. Neither my Floyd Non Fine Tuner / Floyd Rose Original used on the same Super Strat. Or whatever they put on my JP Majesty flutter for crap. But are rock solid tuning wise. And very usable. Dive bombs and flutters are like benchmarks - but does anybody do that in actual music anymore? I think Synyster Gates was the last time I heard a dive bomb used effectively. This video was cool though. People are curious what the difference is and what you get for all the extra $$. Thank High Z.
