Hey,a bass with electronics and hardware worth 3x more than the actual body! That’s my kinda mod, all my basses are like this. Squire and glarry are my go to platforms..

Yeah, the body and "tone wood" BS is the worst place to spend money on a guitar bass. A cheap body with killer electronics and bridge will KILL any 5x more expensive bass with regular components...

I have the Ibanez Mikro and Squier Mini P bass and also all 3 Glarry micro basses ( 25.5” scale ) . Love them all . I’ve put EMG on the Squier and it’s great . Gonna do my Mikro next and then see if EMG has a kit that will fit for the Glarrys . 😊😊😊😊

@@foljs5858pickups are probably one of the biggest tonal factors along with fingers it might not be worth upgrading a cheap instrument much but a lot of them come with terrible sounding ceramic pickups and in general I like the dynamics of alnico I hear neodymium magnets can be brittle though most mics seem to last a long time with them

This was a great video because I have an Ibanez SRMD 200 that I bring with me when I travel for work and I’m looking to give this bass a serious upgrade. As much as I would rather invest in another full size bass for home I play this short scale bass more because it travels much easier than the larger basses do. This little guy sounds rough and I want to turn this feather duster into a nail driver and this video gave me exactly what I was looking for. Thank you I and my travel buddy appreciate it. 🤘🎸🔥

Thanks for watching! In this one, I don’t think they did. Some do some don’t. Easy enough to peel the old ones off the old pups. If not, Amazon sells them for cheap. Hope this video warned me a subscribe!

I have a Mikro Bass and have been considering changing the pickups. Given the scale length, should that jazz bridge pickup be the neck or the bridge? I wouldn't want to get a bridge pickup only to find that the string spacing won't work. Thanks for the help.

As far as fit goes what bridge would you recommend for a gio gsr. Stock is really close too bottom
@ryananthony48402 жыл бұрын
My son has one from about 4 or 5 yrs ago (Indonesia), the stock bridge looks pretty solid to me, would an upgrade make a difference?
@stringmanguitars43292 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Not only only do they tend to fall out of adjustment, but that cheap pot metal that the bridge is made of causes all kind of weird over tones.

Hey! I was thinking of upgrading my Mikro Bass with EMG Active pickups, which would require to change the jack socket with the stereo one that they provide, but again it won't be the right shape for the bass... What would you suggest?
@stringmanguitars43294 ай бұрын
I believe if you contact EMG , they have a replacement barrel jack that would plug in. I believe they all use plug and play systems.

so a normal P-bass pickup drops right in even with the reverse route configuration on the bass? thanks
@stringmanguitars43295 ай бұрын
Yes. Although depending on how much poly finish they left in the routs you might need to file those openings. I’ve had three of these and I have had to massage two of them. Same pickups.

Appreciate the video. I was just looking into a project of modding a Mikro with the Geezer pickups. It sounded like it had a good tone. Did you do any extra shielding? I've heard the Mikros can have some buzz, but that's with the standard internals.

Hey there. I have 2 Mikro basses that I have moded similarly to this video. The first one absolutely needed shielding; I used Copper tape. The Second one did not. It probably depends on the condition of the shielding paint.

Hey, Stringman! Very nice mods. Do the pickups come with that foam strip or that something you add on your own?
@stringmanguitars43292 жыл бұрын
No they don't. But if you are able to save the factory foam, it's great as if has springs in the foam. On my red one I was able to. On the black and purple I had to replace them. It's a matter of how easy they come out.
