I said it before and I’ll say it again that’s one of the best headstocks ever designed. Good luck floating the trem 😊 Spring tension verses string gauge/tension. Many say it’s easy because when you match them they do fine tune and maintain well…but getting there lol. I never bother because I’m hooked to my hybrid sting gauge so not much wiggle room pardon the pun. Anyway great vid really enjoy that you’re collecting this particular 80’s series 🤘🏼

I’m really hoping I can get this to float nicely too. My Fender Contemporary series guitars have spoiled my expectations on what a single locking Trem should be able to do! 🤣🎸👌🙏

I rewatched this. Never had to remove backplate to change the strings. I loosen the cross tip screws and remove the wedge. Put new string in, then the wedge and pull up to keep the string tight and tighten the screw. No noise on the bridge. Stays in tune.

Johnchufar1571 - Yeah, I do it the same way as you do. For those who haven't used these bridges before, the 6 little wedges are like acoustic bridge pins with a screw-in anchor and there are catch points inside each wedge cavity for the ball ends to fit into. I've never gone at them through the back either. Holds firm, no noise across three guitars with these bridges.

My parents bought this guitar in black brand new for me when I graduated middle school. I then proceeded to abuse it as any teenage metalhead would throughout high school. I did not know what I had at the time. Man I miss that guitar. Watching this video brought back a lot of fond memories. Thank you for the video!

I have a January 1985 of one of those which I bought new in 1985. You're right, changing strings is a right pain. For a while it was my only electric. Break a string during a set and that was the end of the set until you got the tools out to replace it. I have it 'decked' and the locking things at the nut end removed and a string tree added for high E and B strings. And.... have it intonated for Open G tuning for occasional Keith Richards sounds. And the pickups are ok, just ok. I won't get rid of it because of all the places it has been, and I'm glad it can't talk...

Had a metalic royal blue one with a maple neck. of these back in the 90s. I was homeless around 2000 and pawned it for $50. One of ny biggest regrets.

Mine is black with a red pinstripe around the perimeter, and humbucker equipped. Amazing neck,killer guitar!

thank you for the video that’s a really nice Ibanez you have i have an Ibanez rs 530 roadstar II i love this thing it has 2 humbuckers double coil tap 2 vol 1 tone 3 way toggle switch mine is in pearl white i’ve had mine since 2016 i’m thinking about changing the pick ups on it these are Ibanez tar backs orginal ones made in japan but i don’t like the sound i don’t know what kind of pick ups i’m goin to put yet but i’ll figure it out

that noise in your bridge means it is binding, just take it apart check all the surfaces and the post and of course so some maintenance on it. It will be just fine.

Yeah man! That’s a sweet axe. Just got the little bro rs230 in white with the basic powerrocker trem. The power rocker and pro rocker (your model) are both top loaded… gotta string it up like an acoustic.

I own the same exact one but with a humbucker for the bridge and one of the saddles broke when I was restringing it and I haven’t seen any replacement parts yet

I’ve got that model as well in white. I believe it is the RS440. I think I’ve got a review of it on here somewhere. Tough break on the saddle. Have you checked out whammyparts.com? Sometimes they have hard to get parts for obscure trem sytems. Good luck! 🎸

Yeah, I realized that after shooting this video. You’ve got sharp eyes! The hilarious part is that in a review I did of the RS440 I have, I mentioned how to read these old Ibanez serials. Definitely a facepalm moment, but hey, it happens - Cheers!🤦‍♂️😆🎸

No man. Marty’s Geetar was black. Like the one I have with 3 single coils. I also have a purple one HSS. Not the correct strap buttons. Dunlop makes some similar strap buttons.

Yes, the one in the original clip was black - still an RS430. Mine just happens to be green. Oh, you’ve got the purple one?! Love that colour! My HSS is the fairly common white 🤷‍♂️. I couldn’t get a set of original buttons for it with current pricing, but I did find some vintage new old stock graph tech chevron buttons (at least I think they were graph tech - they could be something else). Pretty close without killing my wallet and they look the part. Cheers! 🤣🎸
