Great examples! One of the tricks I use with my students to get them started is to finish this statement: "The trouble with the world today is...." It's a good brainstorming prompt.

Probably it’s best to establish the GI right away and get into your two texts for analysis. Time is so short!

I think a hook is OK but not required. Really emphasize defining your global issue.

In my two texts I discuss in 1. ignorance results in detoriation of identity and 2. ignorance results in unknowingly enabling others destructive behaviour. I can't seem to find a GI that would link these, I fear that my texts are too different... "The destructive nature of ignorance" I considered but is far too vague.

Maybe use the word "transformation" instead of displacement? Transformation is one of the course concepts.

Yes. Gender is a common GI and an important one in our world. Speak your truth with this and think about how much we see this topic today. From Barbie to Lessons in Chemistry to A Doll’s House to Yellow Wallpaper to Barbara Kruger to Liza Donnelly to Carol Anne Duffy…..so many wonderful texts communicate these ideas about gender.

hi! i want to confirm whether one of the texts in IOA has to be a work of translation? It is written in the guide, but everything has been so confusing.

Good question! Yes, this is the case for LIT only. One of the works must be in translation. For LAL, we need one literary work and one non-literary body of work. The literary work does not have to be in translation.

For my topic, there are clear counter arguments, but it's a bit difficult to include within the word limit. Is it okay to write a sentence explaining that there isn't time to elaborate on counterarguments, or should I include it? Thanks!
