Diego is the definition of someone with no survival instincts. How is bro gonna talk about "Maybe they were desperate." Okay? Aren't we all? Ted didn't even threaten them at first. He offered to take them with him but they still threatened him and then ACTED on that threat. If you decide to hunt for food instead of Diego, you'll have the option to kill the crow for food. Doing so will make Diego angry at you. My brother, we are in the apocalypse with no food. A handful of berries isn't going to cut it. On top of all of that, he plays his guitar at NIGHT when those things are out hunting. Then acts surprised when the Nocturnal shows up. Berlin made all the right calls.

There is no reason why they shouldn't have agreed instead of threatening a literal teenager with a knife and then a gun. They brought their fates upon themselves. Then Diego is mad that somebody took his supplies but he wasn't hurt nearly as bad as Ted. Diego was only left behind he could have gotten killed or cut just like Ted. Then he wants to abandon Ted just because of ONE person even though Ted literally risked his life several times for him. And in the end he went out in a weak ass way just like his character. I've seen countless characters survive a gun graze but ofc dumb ass Diego had to be dramatic and had to make Ted feel guilty.

Both traumas definitely hold the same weight for each person experiencing them. To one person, losing their dog is the most traumatic experience they may have gone through. Meanwhile, the same can be said for the person not knowing where their next meal will come from. If someone hasn’t experienced something as traumatic as another person, it doesn’t make their trauma any less TO THEM bc that’s all they know. I actually often think about what trauma is and what it means to different people. I’m also a firm believer in not making anybody’s problems/traumas seem lesser than another’s. Only because I don’t know how their traumas have affected them or their lives… This is def a convo that can be had on a deeper level!!
@hlogilehlogonolo5438Ай бұрын
Going off your trauma point I believe your body won’t know the difference between you loosing a dog and you losing someone in war it will just react the same way. Your consciousness will “know” but your subconscious will just process that trauma just the same way as the latter causing your body to be affected the same way but that’s just my view I really don’t know because I’ve never been in a war. I tend to look at it this way too, but I know there have been studies on people who go through PTSD from war or homelessness and their brains literally look different on an MRI. I think at a certain point you become desensitized but I also do think it's relative. For example, a person who has been through more trauma might be able to find joy in smaller things that a more privileged person takes for granted, so it might work both ways. I think its really interesting though what a psychologist or neurologist might think though

Then Diego saves Ted, Ted tells him the truth AND risks his life for his guitar, but he’s in the wrong because his choice to shoot someone in self-defense led to somebody chasing after ‘em and shooting the wrong person? C’mon bruh, if anything Diego shouldn’t be playing a fucking guitar in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. He literally said to Ted, “Nothing is worth more than my life except this guitar” which prompted berleezy to even get his guitar in the first place. WTF 😂😂😂 Like dude, it’s an apocalypse bruh, and keeping it a buck these ain’t even regular zombies these is fucking Dying Light night-time zombies (them grey zombies, forgot their name). I’m not trippin tho cause I get where Diego’s coming from, like at 16 you was left to fend for yourself so I get that, but compared to Ted who quite literally said “I grew up in an abandoned zoo” and “I only killed bad people, people who killed children” WHICH IS A DIRECT PARALLEL TO MIA, who was gonna kill Ted regardless of what her friend said (when she said “He’s just a kid, I’m not a murderer”). Like what we talking bout here?😂😂 He killed people who killed children and also shot Mia who was gon kill him regardless if he was a kid or not. Deadass, Every decision that Beleezy made ain’t even mad at it. Diego didn’t have the context of what actually happened, maybe if Ted mentioned that he was held at gun point with a rifle to his face and the only way to get out of there was to threaten them and even that still wasn’t enough for them to back off, maybe that would’ve shed some light on the whole perspective. But I get it, The person that Diego was with when he was 16 left HIM for dead which quite literally forced ‘em to survive for as long as he did, so in his eyes he sees Diego as another contrast to that which he hates the most; someone who is willing to take another person’s life or leave another person for dead. HOWEVER, in Ted’s case it was LITERALLY kill or be killed. Diego saying Ted’s actions led to their deaths is ridiculous, nobody would’ve died if the girl’s didn’t threaten him in the first place 😂😂😂 what we talking bout here? They were LITERALLY going to leave Ted for dead in the store, c’mon now INCREDIBLE GAME THO EEEUUUGGHH

I’m a psychotherapist and I have some thoughts on what Berlin mentioned in the video. Usually when we are working with trauma, there’s different types like acute trauma, and long-term trauma which can result in complex PTSD. To the person who lost their dog that can be a traumatic event. However, if this person has the ability to emotionally regulate, they have a good community (maybe people who also a Greiving The dog) it’s less likely that they would develop a traumatic response to this loss. However, if you have someone that is struggling with poverty, this is some thing that overtime could create a lot more health concerns, because the trauma is prolonged ( you’re growing up in poverty it’s more than likely than your community might be struggling to) So I think it’s less about how the individual body reacts to trauma and more about how prolonged the traumatic event is and what type of skills are community you have around you.

Mia had it coming being on that type of energy all the time and not just letting him go. At every chance to let him go, even after knowing he was armed, she still went after him. I think you summarized it perfectly with the high school analogy. I mean there were soooooo many times in high school where I thought life couldn’t possibly be more challenging, or chaotic, or stressful than this. Now I look back at those years yearning for their simplicity. All of our “worst case scenarios” are subjective. I also think the state of our minds plays a factor. Like your body could categorize losing your keys to be as significant as losing your pet if you have anxiety and catastrophize things-even relatively simple situations feel like the world can and will fall apart.
@Jay-vi1inАй бұрын
I agree with you heavily, but I also think that there is a difference between the psychological feelings you will experience when faced with the loss of a pet versus the loss of keys. The mind and body respond differently to anxieties vs. the grief/loss of a companion because of the way our brains are wired. We are social creatures, and the loss of a companion could affect the psyche so much (this is a bit subjective) that it could potentially affect our biology and even our genomes. I feel that the loss of keys would be more of an existential anxiety than close to the caliber of grief. I 100% agree that it is subjective, but I wanted to bring biology into the equation. I also agree with the fact that these 2 situations, the loss of keys and the loss of pets, could be just as significant but affect the brain differently. All in all, I agree with you and this comment was only meant to add to the discussion, not critique.
@queenb.193Ай бұрын
@@Jay-vi1in ooooo I love your perspective that’s so true! I think the biological aspects of grief/anxiety/depression etc. could definitely change our bodily composition and be passed down through generations. Hi, neuroscience college student here! Trauma stored in the body can be graded, so losing your dog would in theory be less traumatic than say something like famine. However, every person is unique, and everyone’s nervous system has a different threshold before it becomes dysregulated (fight or flight, ptsd episodes, etc) so it varies. TL:DR; yes it is different, but because of the level of dysregulation/trauma, the response in the sympathetic nervous system is the same. Hope I made sense, love you Berlin!!

@jin_starАй бұрын
i see so many comments being discouraging just bc its a choice based game as if your playthroughs of until dawn, detroit, etc arent legendary in themselves. just because you dont get the perfect ending doesnt mean youre bad at playing them and if anything thats what makes your playthroughs so special and authentic because youre really trying to put yourself in the character's shoes and make the most rational decisions with what you have. with that being said, from what ive seen, the makers of this game are so specific in their vision of what they want ted to do that even if there's an option that would make sense to have a positive outcome, like ted telling diego about him killing maggie or whatever her name was, it was used against him anyway and made for a "wtf" ass ending. like him being up front and honest about killing her in that apocalyptic world that he was born into should have led diego to trust him to a certain extent that im not sure we saw here. he was acting as if ted wasnt about to get killed himself after trying to have a peaceful resolution with the girls and then said some bullshit before he died. as if it isnt a dog-eat-dog world for them. idk what the developer/s had in mind with this story but it was like anything that wasnt in their vision of dialogue and storyline was considered "wrong" and didnt leave much room for error. i havent watched any other gameplays or done any research on other endings, so maybe that was the point?? but with how you played i dont know if there are any decisions you could have made better. anyways. if u have no more fans of your decision based gameplays then i am dead. plz keep them coming 🙏🙏

For the trauma scenarios that Berlin mentioned, I think a good analogy of this is if I'm in a hospital with a broken arm and the person next to me is in a full-body cast, it doesn't mean my broken arm doesn't hurt. Don't get me wrong I think it's important to acknowledge that there are objectively worse situations that someone can be in, and that's why being grateful is important, but at the end of the day just because someone else's trauma looks different doesn't mean it hurts any less. Acknowledging your own pain, while also recognizing others' experiences, creates a more compassionate understanding of trauma. Pain is pain and it deserves to be validated regardless of the severity.

Nah TLOU2 made sense, she didn't kill Abby because she realized she was exactly the same as her, exactly the same as Joel, and none of them were good people the only thing that matters was a kid having the ability to grow up safe. Ellie was the exact opposite of Diego in that sense, Diego's inability to recognize some people deserve death when they try to cause death in others and that Ted had to kill others even if they were desperate, is what led to his little temper tantrum speech on his death road.

Sort of like Ellie choosing not to rectify the death of Joel because it was the result of the exact same righteous vengeance that Ellie was trying to commit on Abby, when letting her live served to let a child grow up safe with a parent-figure, as morally grey as they are, the same way Ellie did.

@@billbill6094 your comparison doesnt make much sense because EVA literally told snake why everything happened and why he had to kill her and he still didnt accept her death, so much so that he retired from the fox unit after mgs3 and built a private military force because he thought the boss' will was an army without borders and he spend most of his life thinking that, he only really accepted her death and realized her true will in the ending of Mgs4 and by then it was too late. Ellie literally had no reason to spare Abby when she did, especially after killing almost all of her friends and going to the island just to kill her.

@NyctoPhobia197 I understand the message the writers were attempting to convey. However, these messages fall flat on their face when placed in their respective settings. @@littlemayo7136 The decisions are illogical and are poorly made so you can agree with the writer's poor visions and ideologies. Diego shouldn't have blamed him for defending himself, and then turn around to give a sob story that contradicts his point. When diego saved ted's life, he returned the favor by saving something diego loved the most. 3: Diego literally makes noise by playing the guitar then attracts the nocturnals in, and the girls shot also attracted the nocturnals, which means it was diego's and the girl's fault. Why would he blame that on ted? And after all they spent together, berlin being honest and all, he makes it seem like Ted caused this. The girl also lied and claimed ted "unalived mia in cold blood" when the girl literally said "put this idiot out of misery" and she didn't want to do it. She attacked him with a knife multiple times, but Ted isn't allowed to defend himself? Also, the glasses decision is poor. They make it seem like trying on glasses for one second will drastically affect how far you go when they could've just picked up the glasses, and tried it on when they got somewhere safe or tried it on when they were walking and they still would've saved time. The game and the characters are poorly written, and it's too short to have all these endings. I knew it would be whack from the demo alone.

@@littlemayo7136why does Diego’s opinion of hating or liking Ted have to do with the decision being “right” or “wrong”. Yes, I get the game wants you to think Diego liking you is the right decision but what if some players don’t like Diego. Therefore, the right decision for those players is Ted and Diego going there separate ways. I get we want people to be empathetic and humane, but at the end of the day it’s an apocalypse. Most people put in Ted’s shoes would probably follow his decisions. I say “most” cuz I already someone gonna say “not me” like obvi we got free will to do whatever. The reason people are upset at how the devs wrote this ending is bc we never see an ending where you don’t get told ur a bad person for making “cold/competent” decisions. We only get the “good” endings, where no one dies, only if the player makes pacifistic and somewhat idiotic decisions. Like there aren’t more endings where being more “ruthless” has more people surviving or at least Diego acknowledging that Ted had to do what he had to. In most games with multiple endings, especially if it doesn’t outright say what is the good or bad ending, most devs will write more than one ending where the player doesn’t get punished for being “cold and competent”. I’m not sure if all the endings in this game are like this cuz I’ve only seen a few, but most of the “good” endings only occur if you pick the pacifist choices which indicates to us as an audience that the devs want us to be pacifistic, empathetic, and humane in an apocalyptic world. Again the meaning behind it is nice, but it’s unrealistic. Morality is really hard thing to judge especially in survival type games so it’s kinda annoying to be told that those decisions are morally wrong and Ted is a bad character. He grew after the apocalypse where he learned that self-defense and killing is the only way to get by and survive. So it’s understandable he isn’t going to have a butterflies and rainbow type attitude like this ending is more in character for him imo. I guess everyone only being understanding of Diego and how he acts bc he grew up pre-apocalypse is what I and others find annoying.

Crossing Diego's boundaries and telling him to get over his trauma is why Diego said all that hurtful shit Also he literally proved Diego white because one of them did in fact end up dying Diego literally died because of the decision that Ted Because someone who wanted revenge on Ted decided to do the same thing to ted did to them

Trauma is trauma. Even if you’re more privileged than someone else somewhere in the world, it still has significant weight in it’s own way. I wouldn’t say the scale is comparable, but the pain is.
