Great talk! For the lateral root induction part, I wonder if there is a mechanism by which lateral roots grow in different angles? Since Bcyc seems to let the rice root grow more compact, maybe there's a mechanism as such?

Is the SHR/SCR regulatory network applicable to other plants other than Arabidopsis? I can imagine running phenotypic screens in other plants would be far more challenging, but is there evidence of homology from sequencing alone? Also is there a role of epigenetics in the control of the molecular switch you talked about? Although you discuss the bi-stability of that network, I'm still confused as to what regulatory processes would push the network into the "on" or "off" states. Thanks for a nice talk!
