It's mad to see how much it's changed since we used to go for 2 weeks (at least) every year. It's become more like a weekend thing by the looks of it. The island is still amazing but I think they have made it more like a city break destination now. Glad I had the best of the late 90's early 2000's there.

Because its so expensive and they have killed the West End nightlife so there are no cheap alternatives for people that want to just want to have a beer and a laugh.

Been going to Ibiza once, twice, three times a year since 1989. Every year it gets quieter and quieter. So many old shops and bars have gone now. Some of the old haunts are totally dead. The island is slowly dying because of over inflated prices. Our favourite Indian restaurant charged 46 euros for a pint, a pop and two curries last year. 76 euros this year. That's way too expensive. Won't be going there again. Greed is totally killing the island off now. 200 fags has been 42.50 for years..... 72.00 for 200 this year. That's 17 euros dearer than duty free!!! Rip off.

Spent 5 nights in Ibiza last week & thought ibiza was def quieter than normal. Went to Hi to see Eric prydz, was amazed how quiet it was as could freely walk around the club even freely walk around wild corner Couldn’t do that for his night when I went the same time last year.
@musiclover9362Ай бұрын
I agree with you but when Guetta or Black coffee play, you can't even walk in the garden. But Ibiza has really less tourists than before because of the high pricing...Part of the plan(same money, less people)
@stefandaners350Ай бұрын
Thank you Dwayne for this video. I think it's very good that you're addressing this topic. In my opinion the last guy was so spot on! My personal impression is: Every year there are more guests, but they stay for shorter and shorter periods of time and have to spend their money very selectively due to the obscenely high prices. At least that probably applies to people who could be described as normal middle class. And I think that more and more of this important and likeable target group, as we saw last year, are here for the last time and will be taking a break from Ibiza. In addition, the price-performance ratio is often out of proportion. Many feel ripped off and there are, after all, alternatives in Europe. For many local businesses this means an uphill battle. These include also Ibizencos, smaller family businesses and traditional restaurants with a long history and fair pricing policy. I fear that Ibiza is developing into a kind of quasi-monopolistic Disney Land TicToc event spot. Ibiza is currently being squeezed like a lemon. But shit, I like this island. Cheers and thank you for your work!

Was this year for 6 days, from 3th to 9th of September, normal nice flat coast me 600Eur for 6 nights ( I think one of the best price I found on the bookings, and I think its the new one). Flights coast me around 250Eur, traveled from Lithuania 4 flights. Visited Pacha for Music On, really really overcrowded night it was, too much people, for 2 bottles of water they charged me 28 Euros, crazy!! And the entrance to the club was 100Eur ticketc was purchased via pacha web. In the restourants normal prices like in other EU countrys. This is my 5th time on the island. 2014 was the first one, its changed, was much more people back than and the prices was much lower, but with all the inflation we have its normal. Also not mentioned was in Tantra club (Playa den bosa), was alot of Fun and my friend played my unreleased music on the terrace, was amazing to hear it here in Ibiza for sure 😊🎉

Just returned from my first week in Ibiza. We are in our mid 50's but had the most amazing time and managed to take in some clubs along with quieter nights in bars in the bay where we stayed. We stayed for a week and although some nights were busy (beach festival was rammed) it was generally quieter than i expected. We budgeted to spend 2 grand and even though we had a table at Mambo for a night and a VIP upgrades for both Eden and Ibiza Rocks, we came back with a few hundred quid as many of the prices in the bars were not overly expensive and ive paid similar prices for drinks in Tenerife recently. Already booked to come back in 2025, theres still stuff id like to experience :)

My first visit was1999 and every summer for about 15 years after that, a week or 2 weeks always. But like everything time and family time catches up but as you walk around it brings back such great memories. The westend was there the nights you were not clubbing and with 2 weeks you could pick your nights for clubs. The island seems to have lost its magic and for those who want to go its going to cost a packet. Its turning into a monster that takes your money weather it be day or night and its just going to cost you a lot. It was always costly but you could get a cheep hotel and cheep bars and balance out your two weeks. I still miss the place, but would it be the same and grateful for the years I had there. Thanks for the video's you keep my memories alive.....

Thinking back to my regular holidays on the island, I specifically remember going with my pals back in 2011, stayed in Hotel Don Toni (now Hard Rock) in Playa d'en Bossa. Cost us around £550 for 10 nights, which included flights, accommodation, breakfast and dinner too. Can't imagine how much this would cost now! That left us enough cash to enjoy different bars/restaurants, as well as doing the big nights (which were max 50 euro for a ticket with most being 40ish). You could feel then that the island was changing with Ushuaia opening (along with its sister Tower hotel), but it seems a lot more pricey/VIP now.
@JeffVaz-y8oАй бұрын
Went there twice this year and you touch in this video the main problem: accomodation+travel increasing prices, then the most touristic places to eat, eat you alive, no value at all for the prices charged. Really glad there are people that point you in the right direction. There plenty of good value for money around the island, sadly thats not in the commercial areas...

Another great vlog Dwayne, and really interesting to watch, I was last on the island last year and really enjoyed it but started getting the impressing it was starting to price itself out of the market, there was some very valid points brought up. I personaly know groups that have vistied over the last year or so and every day has been pre booked including drinks packages before they even arrive, people know what they are doing before they even arrive and it seems to me that the day clubs have taken over to the decroment of the night scene and because everyone is spending their money before they even arrive on the island they are not visiting the smaller venues, I was supprised that west end has shrunk so much compaired to what it was like 20-30 years ago. However the price hikes are not just affecting Ibixa I am off to Tenerife tomorrow and its costing me 50% more than what I paid to come to Ibiza last year and looking elsewhere was as exspensive, so while everyone is paying these prices I can only see them continuing to rise until that bubble bursts.

Thanks for also sharing this aspect! I was there in May, July and September. It was never too busy in the places I was and I kind of liked that - but I know what to avoid like the Es Vedra sunset parking haha. I think it's better for the island and it's water reserve etc, but the high prices (from more and more 5 stars/VIP) are sad for the 'normal' people ánd the businesses who need tourists. I also saw the tents where workers live, sad too that it's hard to find an affordable place to live :( I guess balance is the key, but that's hard when a LOT of people want to come and the island isn't that big.

I have been to Ibiza quite a few times since 1999 and has been there the last 4 summers. Was there a week ago. The prices last few years has gone up quite a bit. It is ok at the restaurants and bars I think. And it is fair enough that a ticket for the clubs cost 50 euros since the lineups are quite big. But when the club tickets cost up to 80 to 90 and even 100 euros it is too much. But what is the worst I think is the drink prices in the clubs, 17 euros for a Heineken, what a joke. We did our own little protest at Defected last Tuesday, got tickets for 25 euros and we did not drink anything because of the prices. 8 euros for a beer would have been fair I think. We will probably not go back to Ibiza next summer, because of the prices in the clubs.

Wayne, your a good lad, but in your last video you said ' I was off my head " for suggesting Ibiza was quiet.... and here we are, confirmed by those in your video. I'm not having a go mate, I just think it's a shame that the investors have come in and capitalised on the magic of Ibiza to the cost of small businesses on the island trying to make a dime. If, as was suggested, people are flying in for two or three days and going fullon...id imagine in terms of safety in regard to alcohol and the other, there will be many more unfortunate casualties... Which is not good for the islands reputation. At least with one or two week holidays, clubbers paced themselves. Please don't eat the head of me for commenting this time 😅😅... All good. ❤

I agree, but it’s technically up on previous years stats wise, before everyone would flock to San An & Bossa, but as mentioned people are moving around knowing what they’re doing, rental cars are at an all time high and you can’t even get a space at Sunset for Es Vedra, for sure it’s quiet in the streets but for some reason venues outside of the resorts are packed, I’ll do a contrast to this later when I have more time. Tomorrow will be gridlock around town with everyone going to Calvin Harris, look at Cala Gracio last night, thousands on the beach because they’re all like sheep going to what’s hot, clubs are way too busy hence why I never step foot in them now

I’m living in Ibiza 6 months of the year, other 6 months in Amsterdam. I’m not renting out my house however most of my neighbors do and we’ve clearly noticed shorter stays 2 to 3 nights versus 2 weeks prior years. It also felt like the busy periods were super concentrated and as you say weekends are mad but weekdays quieter. All in all there is definitely a change in visitors profile probably due to the increase in cost. Whether that’s a good or bad thing for the locals remains to be seen. Ibiza however will always be my happy place!

Heard a few people saying who have recently visted SAN AN that the west end is dead. would you say that’s true Dwayne? Remember when the plastics used to be on the west end and the Amsterdam bar always heaving back in the day

I couldn’t think of nowt worse than being surrounded by phone fanatics thank god I did the island late 80’s 93, 99, 08… great memories not a phone in sight just blissful times seems very corporate now prefer somewhere quieter and local but I understand it’s for the new generation everything changes just not for me anymore 😊

Club-wise I went to No Space at Eden on Fri Aug 30th and it was dead. Room 2 had either zero or only a few people in it each time I wandered in. Music also a very poor imitation of the old Space with them playing mostly dull tech house with no groove to it. IMO tech house was always a bit of an iffy sub-genre from its very beginnings and it has definitely got worse. The other club night I went to was Sasha's set at Playa Soleil on Mon Aug 26th and that was a classic with a busy crowd yet without being overcrowded.

coming to ibiza in a week for 2 weeks and i'm finding it difficult to find a reasonable priced hotel at this time of the season which is supposed to be quieter and less expensive. This is probably going to be my last time in Ibiza after 10 years of coming every year

I’m pretty sure when there’s protests saying brits don’t come, tourists go away, then some people are put off going where they’re not wanted 😬
@DwayneMuffinАй бұрын
Wasn’t much of that on Ibiza as far as I know, I didn’t see it
@RHEMTokenАй бұрын
@@DwayneMuffin saw a few reports over here in the uk but trouble is that sentiment will definitely sway a lot away to spend their money elsewhere, I agree the Brits can be a bit of a nightmare but generalising all can loose a lot of money when it’s your main source of income to the economy 🤷🏽♂️

Do you think the demographic is changing ? i know lots of families/couples who have gone there not for the clubbing but for the beaches/nice hotels , also maybe the clubs need to go for those 50 year old clubbers from the 90's who now have desposable cash ( saga clubbing )

Looks like the Ibiza workers/season scene has been killed off. 10/20 years ago it felt there were as many people doing the full summer as there were on holiday. It gave the island a special vibe like it was everyone’s 2nd home. All the workers blocks had great atmosphere. The workers parties were brilliant like The Shit party and Zoo project when it first began. Very sad to see that gone. The younger generations won’t get that same experience of living like kings on a cheap budget, all through the summer, on the most magical island on earth. Hopefully somehow Ibiza’s new VIP scene will flop and back will be the days of youngsters venturing to Ibiza with peanuts and living an incredible summer.

Yh, I lived there '95, '96 and '97 it's all I ever talk about when I'm reminiscin' about the past...😂😂😂 Manumission at Ku on Monday nights was mental in them days, 10,000 punters in there every week, and Space on a Sunday afternoon on the open air terrace with Alex P and Brandon Block spinning the old house tunes from 87-92......the greatest days of my life m8.......nothings ever gunna beat them days 💯 😊

In my 40s love ibiza but now overpriced for what it is, my life now is fuck ibiza and you should try Thailand. No real big names but the atmosphere supercedes that
