Very nice and informative video. I remember back in the 90's when I was recording sounds on my pc and messing around with a hex editor on it. I realized I could generate a sound record from any place on earth or generate a voice just by writing that hex code inside. Btw the screeching from the marker in that video cracks me up

When I broke the thumb on my right hand, I learned to write with my left. I thought then that left-handed people would find it easier to learn a reflected alphabet and write on a transparent surface from right to left. A right-handed reader would flip the page over and read from right to left. I'm pleased to see my idea in action!

Excellent! In the late '80s & early '90s I was involved with NN & HMM with the hope they would be useful for command & control applications. I also applied some resources on QIS. Again, this was not ready for practical use. Fortunately, I had enough successful projects based on more mature to maintain a quality staff & keep my job.

Thanks for explaining all this clearly and at a high level. Really useful. I don't like using copilot as a programmer (I was a student in the 80s too). It's like autocomplete on steroids - it's clear that it's "just" a pattern recognition machine and understands nothing. Really interesting also that we don't always understand where the answers come from. I suppose ultimately we (human brains) are just very sophisticated pattern recognition machines...

The answer to that is playing out now before our eyes … Google and Bing add GenAI content alongside traditional search results and just recently OpenAI announced that they will be adding more traditional search capabilities to ChatGPT so it appears that both sides are on a path of hybrid convergence
