Hey Clay! Great video ! I loved season 8 and I rooted for you from day “One” when you won, it was like my favorite teams winning the World Series, the Stanley Cup, and the Super Bowl all at once! Your perseverance was nothing shy of inspirational all the way to your victory. Then to see your beautiful family and how they embraced you back was a sensational and endless win! I love the series so much and sometimes while I’m practicing my own survival tactics here in the hills of PA I pretend I’m on the show while I video myself lol. I also am super stoked about getting your book that I just ordered two seconds before writing this comment. So I just wanna thank you for not just showing the world your skills but more importantly, your words of wisdom that helped me with clarifying things I’ve taken for granted without even being way out in the middle of nowhere but right there unnoticed in front of me. Bless you man and your beautiful family.

Been snaring rabbits and foxes for 40 years in Scotland. Along with fishing with an otter board. Yes I was a serious poacher in my youth. Country man all the way. Just ordered a Samick sage 50lb bow for a mid life crisis poaching escapade. I have rifles and shot hundreds of deer. Just want one taken with a bow. Anyway Clay. Love your channel. My wife got Encephalitis two years ago and I am now her full time carer. Just need the time to get out and hunt.

Then you'll know this isn't the best way to snare rabbits or hares. For rabbits make the snares 6 inches off the ground with a larger loop that covers the whole width of the run. For any Americans doubting this we snare thousands of rabbits in a year over here, I don't there's many men who snares over 100 rabbits a season in the lower 48.

Here in the UK we use copper wire for rabbit wires as you say they done let go . I've not snared rabbits or foxes for donkeys years, even since I caught my Jack Russell in a fox snare , she was unharmed luckily. I shut her in while I was setting up but a family member let her out not knowing. It was only by chance i backtracked and heard the little rascal barking i found her. Great video and given me inspiration to dig out my snares and have another go.

I went to a survival show a while back in CDA Idaho. When you create your small loop, leave the excess and turn it into a hair snag. What this does is if the animal tries to back out of it, they are unable to because the hair snag pokes into their skin and they will stop from trying to back out of it.

Right when you had had it with the gill net, and everyone was starving and tapping out, I thought about it and looked up the rules to see if trapping was allowed. I was wondering why nobody was simply setting small game traps. That place had to be loaded with rabbits, martels, squirrels etc. Sure enough as I kept watching, low abd behold you went to the snare and got instant food! Which brought ne to here to see how you did it. Great job and good thinking to prepare for the show. Boy did it pay off. Is that a book I saw in the backround? U wrote a how to manual? Gotta read that guide to survival. Cool stuff and congratulations.
