The golden years of the Ottoman Empire come to life in a television series. The life of Suleiman the Magnificent is preparing to be a guest in your homes in all its glory. Get ready to experience the era with ambition, loves, wars and all the struggle.
Prince Solomon, with his closest man, Ibrahim Pargam Ibrahim receives the bad news in a hunt. His father Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan passed away. Prince Suleyman sets out for Istanbul without waiting. Prince Süleyman quickly reaches the capital. He attends the culus ceremony without waiting. His life changed in one day. He started his life as Sultan Süleyman.
Meanwhile, a galley loaded with slaves coming over the Black Sea is heading towards Istanbul. The hottest of the slaves is not yet aware that he is on a journey that will change his destiny. He is rebelling helplessly to return.
Sultan Süleyman wants to show what kind of sultan he is by the commands he gave on the first day of his sultanate. But not everyone will like these decisions. Sultan Süleyman does not hesitate to challenge all of Europe with the messages he sends.
Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. He's the man, the ruler, it's not their place to interfere or demand he remain monogamous, this is their culture, his right. All over the world (specifically Europe) the nobility and rulers were expected to have one or more mistresses, usually even having "official mistresses" (there's instances where people disliked and made fun of, a couple Kings because they didn't have one).... It was illigal and taboo, against their religion and (with exception of kings) frequently done secretly The Ottoman and Mogul Sultans were not totally different in ways. Except they had female slaves, concubines and such, for both that purpose and a kind of high level maid of a sort to carry out miscellaneous tasks. I mean... Truthfully... Technically, Ibrahim wasn't doing anything wrong by the laws, religion, culture and normality of that time period. I can't help but wonder how much of this show was shaped by/to modern ideals/morals/expectations/etc. When we look at History, it's so hard not to evaluate it with current ideas/morals/knowledge/etc.... But, we should not do that.... It causes problems to appear where there were none before, it creates unfair judgements, it also allows people to twist it and try to use it for inexcusable bad behavior and make demands, twist the history so badly it wouldn't even be recognized as the same event so they can make demands of justice that neither modern party had any thing to do with.

This speech by Ibrahim Pasha, apparently outrageous, & full of arrogance, is not aimed to project himself as an alternative source of power of the Ottoman empire, but seems to have been an attempt to drive home the point as to how close he was to the Sultan, in order to facilitate the negotiations with the visiting ambassadors. Ibrahim Pasha must be crowned as the Original "pheku" or braggart of "recent" history- loud and audacious talker of all times! He easily surpasses the Wall Street hero, Leo Dicaprio! Ibrahim was original, never had to go to Columbia or Yale to do his PhD in bravado. I loved the expressions on the Minute Writer's face! If I were the Sultan I would easily make him Governor General of Persia! That would be a good idea, cheap on cost benefit, and good ROI overall! Admire the Producers for executing this great episode. In fact the series lost its lustre after Ibrahim Pasha was gone.
