I’ve been letting my IBS symptoms creep up on me since before Christmas. General discomfort, but putting it down to hectic family catch up season, extra travel, eating out etc. Warning sign a few days ago, sharp lower abdomen pain shortly after a ‘full Scottish’ breakfast. Stools varying between hard and soft. Gas (we say farts 😮) not noxious, but almost inadvertent. Still nothing clicked. And then …. now mid January … last night, just before bedtime. Holy Feck ! Absolutely doubled up. Left side, mid to lower abdomen. Really, really acute pain. Spasms. Crawled into bed. Crawled out again 3 times during a sleepless night to pass water. So here I am, stomach groaning and rumbling, but acute pain subsiding, seeking KZbin assistance. Hit the jackpot first time with you, Michelle. Thank you for putting me back on the straight and narrow. Watched both your clips on emergency pain control and dietary recommendations. Extremely helpful, easy to understand and relate to, - and above all presented in a knowledgeable and compassionate manner. So, Thank You from the bottom of my … er bottom 👏👏👏

What a wonderfull helpfull video. She is spot on. Thank you so much i just hope ibs sufferers will take note. I suffered for years im 70+ and did not know about ibs. So i went to a dr and was told to research and change my diet. So i did just that. With my research i learnt to cut out lots of veg fruit and other foods that made me suffer. I had enough of the bloating gas and pain in the gut. After watching what i eat, and making notes of what foods i can eat im now so happy that i took the time out for doing the research for me. You have to listen to your body you will you know each time you have eaten the wrong food. Read on the labels before you buy. Write down what works for you or not. ❤

Prunes, grains. FODMAPS changed my life. My mom says I'm like a different person, more energy, initiative, animated. No more looking like I'm pregnant with triplets. No lactose, fructose and no gluten is easy compared to what I went through. Just wish it wasn't as expensive. My mom bakes my bread for me, gluten free.

Thank you so much for making the connection between pelvic floor dysfunction and IBS/constipation. I told providers for years that I thought my severe PFD pain was related to chronic constipation, but no one took me seriously. I finally have had successful PT, and found the FODMAP diet on my own after the only suggestion was Miralax. Miralax works, but creates other problems (multiple bowel movements) as you know. Also, I believe my fairly moderate case of joint hypermobility is a major factor with gut issues, but again no one can address.
@michellephysio3 жыл бұрын
@LR LR I couldn't agree more, every time you strain with constipation the pelvic floor nerves and muscles are stretched. If they are already tight this worsens the condition and is extremely painful. I'm so glad to read that you've found the solution, it can take a long time can't it. Have you tried the paediatric version of Movicol? It's an osmotic laxative like Miralax but might be less aggressive on your pelvic floor perhaps? Just a thought and all the best for your future management 🙏 ❤️
@minksrule21962 жыл бұрын
Yes joint hypermobility definitely has something to do with gut issues because joint hypermobility suggests a connective tissue issue and your gut is made of connective tissue so yes it's connected

VALUABLE HEALTH TIPS WHICH I HAVE LEARNED BY TRYING TO KEEP TO A CARNIVORE DIET FOR MOST OF THE TIME OVER THE LAST FOUR YEARS WHILE ON A TIGHT BUDGET. I have been on a carnivore diet most of the time for approximately four years. I have learned a lot about it because of the mistakes I have made with my carnivore diet strategies during that time. I am on a tight budget and I can still easily keep within my budget while maintaining a carnivore diet. If I continue to eat cheese and natural yogurt while on the carnivore diet I will never lose any weight and furthermore cheese is known to stimulate the human appetite to a large degree. To achieve weight loss and good health on a carnivore diet one must abstain from eating any sugar whatsoever. One must abstain from eating any food which contains fructose, glucose, lactose, maltose, dextrose, or sucrose and if there is any other type of sugar that I have not listed here one must abstain from that also. The human body converts fuel obtained from the carnivore diet into any sugar it might need by a process of gluconeogenesis so there is no nutritional or health requirement for any human being to ever eat any type of sugar whatsoever. Eskimoos which are also known as Inuits and also many other tribes throughout the world who live in cold climates have no access to plants because their climate is too cold to grow plants so therefore they have no access to sugar of any kind and yet they have lived and thrived for thousands of generations without any type of sugar. I am now modifying my carnivore diet by eliminating all yogurt, cheese and butter from now on. I plan to eat six eggs either hard boiled or fried in goose fat for my breakfast and my evening meal and I plan to eat meat for my lunch on a daily basis. The twelve eggs will cost me approximately four Euros and the meat will cost me approximately five Euros and the goose fat and coffee will cost me approximately one Euro which comes to ten Euros per day. I should not be drinking coffee as coffee is a plant and has no part to play on a carnivore diet but I am not willing to give it up at this time. As all of the food I will be eating is non-addictive food I am assured by many other carnivores that my false appetite for food will disappear after one month of keeping to this diet and I will then easily be able to reduce down to two meals per day. While on a carnivore diet it is absolutely essential to intermittent fast which means that one must never snack outside meal time and one must avoid eating food from six p.m. each evening until the following morning. If you continue snacking you will not succeed in your endeavours to improve your health and to lose weight. Intermittent facting by abstaining from food for at least fourteen hours or more during the night while drinking water whenever you feel hungry is an essential part of the health regime and if you skip it you will not succeed in your endeavours. If you suffer from irritable bowel syndrome you must give up all plant fibre because humans have a very difficult time digesting plant fibre. You will then notice an improvement in your digestive health but however your irritable bowel syndrome symptoms will not completely disappear until you also intermittent fast by fasting on water for at least fourteen hours per day. Snacking between meals and at night must be entirely eliminated if you wish for vibrant health. My name is Gretta Fahey from Newbrook, Claremorris, Co. Mayo, Eircode F12 Y560, Republic of Ireland.

Michelle I am SO glad I found your channel! I’ve had gut issues for decades which have been progressively getting worse with lots of constipation. But it’s funny I keep reading how garlic and onions are great prebiotics that help to feed your friendly gut bacteria, so I’ve been having that with my water kefir and sauerkraut all to no avail, and lately I said to myself having just bought a load of them “I don’t think these agree with you”. But it’s funny when you mentioned honey I was flabbergasted! I buy raw honey and always end up with an oral thrush white thick coated tongue, but surprisingly I’m ok with maple syrup. So I’m definitely gonna look into the amo aah diet, because most of my trigger foods are the ones you said to avoid, particularly cashews and pistachios 😳😱. Thank you ever so much for sharing, and here’s to my good health 😊.
@michellephysio2 жыл бұрын
@BeaunaturelleFeb11 yes I hear you - unfortunately not all prebiotic foods agree with everyone (myself included). Garlic, onions and sauerkraut are all classic triggers for IBS and yes maple syrup (pure) is fodmap friendly. See if you can work with a dietitian who understands FODMAPS otherwise I can highly recommend the Monash Uni App as it gives quantities etc and is very user friendly. I’ve learnt the hard way that just because a food is a prebiotic doesn’t mean it’s going to be well tolerated. You may find that some prebiotic foods such as cooked and cooked potato and rice work well. I can tolerate tinned asparagus too and small quantities if some tinned legumes but it’s a very individual thing. All the best to you! 🙏

I know everyone's body is different. I was diagnosed with IBS and am trying to figure out my triggers. Cucumbers and salad are bad for IBS. Both give me constipation. Cold food is harder on your body than room temperature or warm foods. Fish and Chicken breast are good. Tougher meats give me issues. I disagree with soy milk being a IBS trigger. It is not for me. Dairy is a trigger for me though. Cow milk, cheese give me stomach pains and bloating. I have no issues with nuts. I can eat them all without issues. Chia seeds give me stomach pains. I also have no issues with honey. Hopefully this helps someone else with similar issues. Gluten is a trigger for me too.

I was on Fodmap diet two years ago avoiding to eat a lot of this food, it helped me to lose about 25 pounds which it was great. I agree that some of this fruits, vegetables and other things triggers GERD, but some of the food that are allowed to eat also triggers my GERD symptoms. So I think we have to try and see which foods are okay to eat and not. I did eliminate from my diet tomatoes, whole milk, cheddar cheese, corn, chilis, carbonated water and drinks, limes and lemons, black beans, but curiously I can tolerate Pinto beans, and almond milk. I can't tolerate chocolate, strawberries, and anything that has gluten, monosodium glutamate or soy.

oh hi I'm from Indonesia. I also suffer from gerd. and may I ask ?? if your IBS tends to have diarrhea or constipation?
@jhennessyde-la-fuente7193 Жыл бұрын
@@dailyelatifa9593 ...Hello! At the beginning yes, some periods of diarrhea or watery stool and sometime some constipation, but this can be improve if you eat a balanced diet that also contains fiber like apples. Good luck.

@jhenneeyde-la-fuente7193 great info - agreed, some of the low FODMAP foods can still trigger GERD. Some options that can be tolerated by some with GERD include orange or yellow mini tomatoes and the golden kiwi for lower acid but very much an individual thing and it's often trial and error for many. Thank you for great comment!

No bloating, cramps or constipation. I have awful soft poos. In the morning I can't go anywhere as I go to toilet 2-3 times. If I go out to soon - to walk my dog, she goes under one bush and I look for another! Would never make it back home..:-((( As I do have DB2 I can't have a lot of things in this video...I absolutely miss my life style even from 5 years ago - could eat everything and all the time without any problems.....now I am in living hell - who cares about hell after...Thank you for this video - will definitely add/change few things (yet again) and see.....

10:58 sounds good except the misconception that we need to make up more iron when we eat less meat. If eating less meat is healthy, maybe eating less iron is healthy.

Took me a few years of added weight (yes, the body thinks it's starting and may hold on to carbs and sugars) and lost hair for me to figure out my triggers are flavor enhancers. MSG and all of its relatives like anything autolyzed or hydrolyzed, as well as cartagenan, soy derivatives and other emulsifiers. Hard in the US as soo many foods have flavor enhancers. If the label says spices or flavorings, I avoid. We need to clean up our foods. I get stomach cramps just walking down the condiment isle.

Taking the soft fiber glucosamine with water before meals seems to be a great buffer. We take our milk with Lactaid during outbreaks and avoid all tannins, wine, caffeine, thick gravy, sticky foods like peanut butter and esp alcoholic sugars in Adkin Keto products.

Thank you for the video.For me I kind of knew immediately what food was the issue as the reaction would be quick.But I also discovered depending on how the food is cooked would have enormous difference on my gut ie raw onions a culprit but sauted onions ok.Mushrooms are fine and delicious eaten raw.I can eaten bread therefore its different for everyone.Tofu is a big no within minutes was in pain.My ibs has messed with my pelvic floor muscles I can't do kegals as I'm too tense so at moment nurse told me to focus on relaxing.

IBS is easily curable through ayurveda(ancient methods for treating various disease in India) If you want to cure ibs you have to take following medicine for aprox 4-6 month with strict diet and yoga poses but have no idea these medicine is available in your country but you can get these medicine from India if you have any friend or relative - Bilvadi churan Or belgiri churan (1tabkespoon after meal morning and after dinner) -kutajghanvati(2-2 tablets after meal) -chitrakadi vati( " " " ") -kurtajharista syrup ( 4 tablespoon with equal amount of water two time after meal) it's good to cure loose motion and you can take ishabol instant of this if you have constipation. I was also suffer from IBS and now iam totally fine Thank you 😊

Omg coffee is on fodmap. You know now that you mention it, I used to have coffee non stop at one of my jobs. Starbucks and office machine. All day. This completely slipped my memory. And this is when I had an excruciating bowel obstruction for a week. I shortly after happened to quit that job, and with it the coffee habit, and it never happened again.

Going to make my progress report in this thread! My Symtoms: (Trigger Warning: very descriptive) • Constipation (not the one where u dont poop, but more like poop is too hard to pass - it happens once in a week) • Very frequent bowel movements (not diarrhea though, like last 2 days i pooped 6 times and every time only a little comes out) • Excessive Gas (this is the main and embarrassing issue, im farting like 30 times a day for last 1 year) • Bloating (swollen belly, where i feel there is gas in it which is not getting out. it causes pressure on my bladder and i feel like i have to pee, and it also causes pressure on my pelvic floor) • Feeling of not getting emptied after bowel movement (like 20-30% of the times). But i think its because of either gas putting pressure or because of tight rectal muscles • Weird noises coming from my intestines/stomach My doctors, everytime i went to her, said: just exercise which i did and it didn't help! Things that im feeling could be the problem: - issue with liver/gallbladder (not producing bile or something) - sibo - bad bacteria in gut - very tight rectal muscles - extreme stress I'm gonna address each one - by one to see what the issue is, starting with: - Quitting Alcohol/Coffee (which is the hardest part) - Going low-fodmap diet - 18-20hr Fasting 3x a week - Daily walk for 30min - Proper sleep routine to reduce stress

Your videos are so helpful and straightforward. You are an Angel! I’ve suffered for years with chronic constipation , IBS~ and a bought with sepsis from a hemorrhoid banding two years ago which has wreaked havoc with my digestive system. I lost my gallbladder and I’ve been diagnosed with severe hypertonic PVD~ my rectum itself was so traumatized, I now must have a colostomy with stoma ( Hartman procedure ) literally to save my life as I’ve lost 55 pounds and I’m now 108. I’m so very nervous for the surgery and how I’m going to eat. I’ve been supplementing with Kate farms nutrient dense drinks… any suggestions you might have would be so very much appreciated ❤️🙏🏼

Thanks a lot for the valuable information! Just regarding the Yogurt info I'm confused, At : 8:07 you said we should avoid all milk based products like Yogurts. Then 12:51 you said you include Yogurt in your IBS smoothie. Other doctor in KZbin said Greek yogurt is actually good for IBS diet.
@michellephysio2 жыл бұрын
@Adam My apologies for the confusion. Some individuals are intolerant to lactose in regular (and Greek) yogurt. With the elimination diet, regular yogurt can be substituted with lactose-free yogurt or there is an enzyme called lactase (pharmacy or online) that can be taken orally with regular yogurt. Some individuals with lactose intolerance can still tolerate small amounts of lactose eaten through the course of the day too but it’s a matter of finding out how much lactose your body can actually tolerate, first by elimination and then reintroduction of small amounts of regular yogurt. Meanwhile, lactose-free yogurt can be a good option. I hope this helps🙏
